Relative to the norm (see below) - this place is pretty good. So far, after 6 or 7 meals, the only place where our food has not been overcooked. Lovely tender chicken and a brilliant seafood skewer. Service is, unusually it would seem for this place, attentive and prompt. Evening music entertainment was interesting and good fun. Not cheap but then nowhere seems to be good value for money in Santa Maria?

The norm in this town means waiting a while for your food (it’s ok, it’s laid back and you’re on holiday) and expect it to be overcooked (let’s assume they’re trying to be safe with food). So my reviews are relative to all of that. I’d say a 5* place in this town would struggle to get above 3* in most other holiday destinations.

Added comment: there is at least one true 5* restaurant in SM. See my other reviews if you want...

Fabulous restaurant find, tucked down a side street. Tablecloths+ linen napkins, stringed lights just had a real Cape Verdean feel & live Creole music was the icing on the cake. We were lucky as despite being very busy we managed to find a table. Very pleasant staff & the food was exceptional. Freshly prepared meals of chicken with vegetables with a side order of the sweet potato fries where thinly cut like crisps not chips & tasted wonderful, great portion size as well as being tasty. Asparagus risotto was moist with thick chunks of asparagus which was mouthwateringly good. Sweets of chocolate brownie which was two large slices, easily could have done 2 people & creme brulle. Price was very reasonable too, a return visit is definitely on the cards. This restaurant is not...

Avoid if possible. The service is terrible. We booked the day before. There were two seating options 7pm and 9pm. We have kids and decided to take the earlier option.

We only received our main course at 9pm. That's 2 hour food. The kids were fast a sleep by the time we got the food.

We did complain, the blonde lady was not apologetic. Her responses, can you not see the restaurant is busy. She was very condescending too. Tell me, you are on holiday we should relax. I don't think 2 hour wait for the main course is justifiable.

We were even offered any explanation, no one came to check on us. Not even bread.

If I was the management, I would improve the service. Starting by removing the blonde rude spanish lady. I wasn't sure if she is part of the...

This place is a little jem. It's located down an alley. The building opposite has local paintings on the wall. They open for dinner at 6pm and have live music on a little stage in the alley. Cape Verde has great seafood, but I only gave four stars for the food. I had the seafood tagliatelle and can only wonder why they put crab sticks in it, although it tasted great.

I really liked the ambiance of this restaurant, especially with the live music and charming outdoor seating. The owner was kind and took the time to recommend dishes—though I didn’t follow his advice, and my seafood rice ended up a bit too salty for my taste. The service could have been a bit more attentive, but overall, it’s a place worth trying.
