We came to Liguria on a Wednesday night around 9pm without a reservation. Because no table was available we were offered either a position at the bar immediately or to have our name noted on a waiting list for a table. We chose the last and were told to come back after 45 minutes. When we came back, the lady who noted our name told us that we had to wait a little bit longer, but the next available table was going to be for us. After another 10 minutes we were suddenly directed inside and were placed at the bar, unclear if we were supposed to wait here further for the next available table or this would be our position to have our food. So my girlfriend (who speaks better Spanish than I do) tried to get this clear by asking the lady. She responded that this would be our position for the dinner. So we explained her that we preferred a table over the bar and therefor our name was placed on the list 55 minutes ago. In stead of apologizing or explaining the situation, she immediately became unfriendly and told us we could either eat at the bar or just leave. Because we were hungry and it was late, we decided to stay, but it was certainly not a pleasant start of our evening.
Once helped by a friendly waiter and after ordering some food and drinks, our moods got better again and we enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of this busy bar and the live music further back in the restaurant.
The menu consists mostly of typical Chilean dishes and the things we ordered were prepared well with good ingredients and they tasted good.
But despite the fairly good food and the friendly guys at the bar, our experience never really met our expectations. At the bar it was chaotic, after our first order it was hard to get the attention of a waiter and we didn’t feel treated very well overall. By the time we were done and wanted to go, the staff was so busy with cleaning, stocking the refrigerators and making cocktails that we had to ask 4 times for the bill before getting it, 25 minutes after our first attempt.
All in all, this place seems a bit hyped, and sure they have good food, but that is certainly not unique in Santiago. There are simply too many nice restaurants and bars that it would be a shame to waist your time waiting for a table here and then to be...
Read moreWelcoming outdoor tables and service, but because of the hot weather that day, we decided to walk in. As soon as you enter, you know you are about to begin a fabulous experience like being in someone’s large and stately home. Because of our large party, we were guided to the back of the restaurant where we felt we were in someone’s patio with great lighting & atmosphere. The service was friendly although a little slow because of the lunch rush. The shrimp empanadas appetizers were scrumptious. My fresh salmon salad was not only beautiful, but delicious. The langostinos’ stuffed avocados were incredible and my husband loved the chicken milanesa dish he ordered. The list of fresh juices was extensive and the pineapple one was yummy & refreshing. The entire group gave it five stars. This is a must visit when in...
Read moreBe still my beating heart....We found the perfect restaurant in Santiago thanks to Phil Rosenthal. He featured this gem in his "Somebody Feed Phil, Santiago" episode on Netflix, but we opted for the original site vs. the one he ate at. We loved everything about it, especially sitting in the back room which was eclectic, beautiful, bright and cheery. Our server was originally from USA so it made it easy for ordering. She walked us through the menu and told us some of her favorites. Everything we had was fantastic - including our drinks! Wish we could clone Liguria, would love to have a restaurant like this close by. Kudos for a job well done! (tip.. try the fish sandwich...
