This is one of my favorite restaurants in town for delivery (easily 5+ stars) so it pains me to share my first in-person experience as so difficult that I am not sure I will return in person.
We arrived tonight and after being told there is no happy hour, ordered a regular drink. The waiter then arrived with a happy hour menu, which we were given the okay to switch the drink for. The food needs to be ordered off the online menu, which if you don’t have phone data (and no WiFi there) is actually impossible. But eventually it gets figured out, arrives and is, as always, delicious. If it was just food, this place gets 5 stars, always.
But when the check comes, we are charged for the other drink which we didn’t get. Totally fine, we correct it. Then it comes back and when I state that we will include the tip, it’s divided improperly and we end up paying the tip twice. I communicate this to the server and I don’t know if it is willful misunderstanding of a gringa or genuine, but he continues to charge us. When my Chilean partner points it out (after being charged), it’s noticed and he offers the overcharge in cash, at 50% of what it actually was.
For context, I’m from the US where a 20% tip is minimum to me. I would have been fine leaving it (especially in a pandemic) and am fine that we left extra. For me, I worry more that it was the multiple attempts to overcharge an obvious gringa with the idea that maybe they could get away with it. I have never had a problem with this restaurant before but I leave this here in case others have had a...

Ordered 4 dishes only to be told after 20mins later that the kitchen has run out of avocado- so most dishes had them but substantial change would Mean the blend of taste would be altered .
Sat on the terrace. then decided to change the ingredients in each dish for avocado. As this would change the taste of the dish ended up ordering the Mito 36 table.
Waited 60mins for this from when we sat down. Should have offered complimentary nibbles whilst we waited.
It was a selection of 6 items:
• 4 Salmon Nigris: block of rice to heavy and large - not great. • 4 Chicken Gyozas: was ok • 4 Salmon-Cream cheese Karokes: tasteless more like arachnici. • 1 Pop&Roll: Wrapped in cream cheese, : stuffed with teriyaki chicken, avocado and crispy onion with quinoa pop topping: average : average • 1 Passionate Roll: Wrapped in panko, stuffed with salmon, cream cheese and avocado with Nikkei passion fruit sauce: above average • 1 Deli Roll: Wrapped in flambéed salmon, stuffed with shrimp, cream cheese and chives with shrimp-crab sauce: above average other than the shrimp- crab which was too sweat: almost like cocktail sauce.
Cocktails: Giesha nice presentation - tasted very average - was not a drink that I had chosen but changed on recommendation of waiter.
Found food and service slow. Ver poor experience...
Read moreAs rated, the restaurant's service and atmosphere were top-notch for the price range. But.
The menu included two nigiri sushi that were sincerely horrendous. The rice on them wasn't properly cooked, it was stodgy and too heavily pressed, it felt really gross to eat, like eating paste made of paper accompanied of the thinnest slice of salmon ever.
Sadly, it wasn't the only bad piece of food we had there.
The cold rolls were almost frozen, with no noticeable taste due to their ingredients being -too- cold, the rice was awful too (stodgy and paper paste-flavoured) and the hot rolls at least had better rice (maybe it got finally cooked on the frying processes at) but were pretty gross thanks to the fact that the flavor of the whole thing was dampened by the copious amounts of different sauces and the horrible ingredients they used. In one of the tori rolls we had, the chicken was too dry, and was too much % of the roll itself so it overpowered the flavor. I actually thought I was chewing on an old rug instead of Viñas'...
