I’ve been in HK for a little bit and wanted to venture away from Chinese/Cantonese food for a second. Back home, I’m a sucker for good Indian food.
Alibaba Kitchen is a definition of a hole in the wall. It’s not on a Main Street, but close, and it fits a single table that can seat two but I think it’s just where the chef/owner/friends/workers relax or rest. I’m not sure if this is a takeaway only spot but it seems to be so.
While I made it during the lunch set time, I opted for something a little more familiar to me, the Chicken Tikka Biryani. Biryani is essentially well-flavored, seasoned rice and I’m used to having them long grain (basmati) style.
The food did not disappoint. Flavor wise, I think it’s well seasoned, and didn’t skimp on the chicken meat at all. My stomach is well satisfied, and you can even ask for a spice level too.
For $68, I got the Chicken Tikka Biryani, it seems to come with a small side of greens in the to-go box, and a drink (I opted for the Oolong Tea) but you can get soda or water too.
Service wise, they are nice and kind folks. The deduction in star is the lack of dine-in/sit-down which was not obvious to me until I got there, and it’s a bit dingy walking up to it, and even peaking inside. There’s been some comments and reviews that almost turned me around to find another place, but I went with it anyway.

Read moreFinally tried this place after passing by a few times. It's sort of hidden and located in an alley leading to residential apartments.
Food was great and had amazing value. I ordered a chicken tikka kebab and chicken biryani. The kebab was about 10 inches long and was packed! Lots of delicious meat and veggies. Don't forget to add the yogurt sauce!
The chicken biryani came with a side salad that was slightly spicy. Rice was moist! I loved it because sometimes you get a dryer biryani which I think, correct me if I'm wrong, means it's not freshly made. Huge chunks of chicken as well!
Lunch set was 52 for each dish and came with a drink. Make sure to try their banana lassi too. Interesting taste if you...
Read moreI ordered from this place after reading the reviews and the food was not at all disappointing. We ordered for two different types of kebabs. The chicken gyros was flavorful and quite filling as compared to the mix meat roll. The pepperoni pizza was nice with a good amount of cheese and a thin crust. We also had the lamb curry with naan. The meat was well cooked and the curry was delicious. But the best part of the entire meal was the piping hot samosas with a generous filling of potatoes and peas. The samosas actually made the entire meal memorable and this will be a place I will...
