Ask For Alonzo – A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Quarry Bay 👍😘💯

Tucked away in the bustling heart of Quarry Bay, “Ask For Alonzo” is more than just an Italian eatery—it's a love letter to comforting, authentic flavors with a modern twist. Whether you're indulging in a leisurely dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the restaurant delivers a well-curated menu that satisfies every craving.

✨Starters That Set the Mood✨

Kick off your meal with a selection of appetizing small plates designed to awaken the palate. The “Roman Meatballs” ($38) are a hearty classic, generously coated in rich tomato sauce and finished with Parmesan shavings—a perfect balance of tangy and savory. For seafood lovers, the “Sauteed Clams” ($48) are a standout—bathed in a spicy lemon and white wine broth, complemented by crunchy focaccia to soak up every drop.

✨Decadent Mains with an Italian Soul✨

The mains are where Ask For Alonzo truly shines. The “Prawn 🦐 & Asparagus Risotto” ($28) elevates the humble rice dish with a creamy lobster bisque that’s luxuriously smooth, while the “Roasted Italian Suckling Pig 🐷” ($58) is nothing short of indulgent—tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork accompanied by silky mashed potatoes and a rich black forest mushroom sauce. The flavors feel bold yet refined, making each dish an absolute pleasure to savor.

✨Sweet Endings That Impress✨

No Italian meal is complete without a well-crafted dessert, and Alonzo certainly delivers. The “Signature Tiramisu 🍰” is a must-try, balancing delicate espresso-soaked layers with luscious mascarpone. The “Cheesecake” with strawberry sauce offers a fruity twist, while the “White Chocolate Panna Cotta” shines with its velvety texture and wild berries sauce, creating the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.

✨Refreshing Sips & Italian Hospitality✨

Pair your meal with a “Fresh Apple Juice 🍎” for a crisp, refreshing taste or opt for something stronger with the “Spiked Lemonade (Vodka)” for a vibrant citrusy kick.

At $288 per person (plus a 10% service charge), Ask For Alonzo provides an exceptional dining experience that blends high-quality ingredients with a warm, welcoming ambiance. Whether you're in the mood for a relaxed evening or a hearty Italian feast, this hidden gem in Quarry Bay is certainly worth the visit.

Quarry lacks good Italian food and Ask for Alonzo just hits the spot with Southern Italian dishes in a trattoria environment.Discovered this joint after going to the Tong Chong Street market.

There is an alfresco table where you can have drinks before dinner.

The menu had a good choice of variety.

Started with the bread with was accompanied with basil puree rather than the usual olive oil and balsamic.

I loved the basil puree as it complimented the bread very well.

For starters, had the burrata cheese with extra parma ham for +HKD60.

Basically all my favourites on one plate on a bed of colourful Heirloom tomatoes in all colours which were juicy and umami taste to the max along with the creamy burrata.

The extra ham gave it the salty flavours and goes very well with tomatoes and the burrata too.

Next were the meatballs which were topped with chunky grated Mozzarella cheese.

Each meatball was big and tasty loaded with herbs which accentuated the flavour as well as the chopped tomato sauce.

As well as the meats, the Zoodles are the best because they were juicy and crunchy without any grassy taste and the hazelnuts gave it a nutty balance to it. For pasta, had the mixed mushroom and truffle fettucine served with poached egg.

It was good how it was not too creamy so you could taste everything from the truffles to the delicate egg. Finished with the panna cotta and tiramisu which was a perfect ending complimented with aromatic coffee.

The panna cotta was creamy and sinfully delicious as it was made with double cream while the tiramisu was equally as good spiked with liquer.

Will definitely check it out again for the...

A friend said he had a lunch reservation at Ask for Alonzo. I never heard of it but it looked interesting. The restaurant was very small but the staff made us feel welcome.

Many of the traditional Italian dishes on the menu had a contemporary tweak to them. Our waiter knew his menu and was able to guide us to a very happy lunch. I only asked him to recommend something that would make me want to return.

Now, I love Italian meatballs and would probably go back for their Roman Meat Balls. Not quite as good as Granny Marrone's homemade or as memorable as Philadelphia's best from the Italian Market but a worthy memory.

However, the pasta dish was the clincher. The linguine in a sweet pea and creamy pink sauce was just different enough. The pasta was done perfectly, as you would expect, but the sauce actually complemented the flavors - without being overbearing as can happen with a creamy sauce in lesser hands.

It was a pleasant afternoon and, as with any proper Italian meal, we digested our food by chatting over a relaxing bottle of wine.

The happy dilemma of my return visit will be, do I go with that winning pasta/sauce combination or extend my trust in the staff's expertise and try...

Dropped by for a late lunch and opted for the 3-course tasting menu at a reasonable price Very pleasant and comfortable environment with light music and attentive service, perhaps due to office hours on a weekday. Option to sit at the patio outside on a nice day Complementary bread with homemade truffle parmesan butter - boy did that set the stage, bread (sourdough I think) was fresh and warm with a chewy texture I opted for the meatballs, suckling pig and homemade tiramisu while my partner had the sautéed clams, carbonara and panna cotta Everything was cooked just right and food was served with generous portions. The suckling pig was the star of the meal - meat was tender and juicy on top of creamy mashed potatoes topped with mushroom sauce Only thing found was the panna cotta was slightly too sweet for our liking, maybe because it was infused with white chocolate We left with a full belly and a big smile on our face and would definitely come back again Highly recommend this place for a good meal and chill for happy hour Also free parking available (when spending more than $200) when parked at one of the car parks of the One Island East buildings
