Hunger can’t wait for the pandemic to get over. And to make matters worse I don’t know to cook. Having flown to HK quite recently, that task of finding a meal that could lit up my taste buds has been quite similar to the quest of finding the Holy Grail. It was however much recently that this find came to a fortunate halt at the Tulsi Indian Restaurant in Quarry Bay. An oasis amidst a desert truly. Not only does the ambience make you feel comfortable but so is the hygiene. I am the kind of a person who would spend more on hygiene than on food and with the pandemic going around, the chances of finding a hygienic yet value-for-money restaurant are always bleak. Tulsi Indian Restaurant is by far the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food is top class, the ambience feels good, hygiene is super and most importantly it does not burn a hole in your pocket. Impressed with the food, I thought to have a dialogue with the restaurateur Kartik and boy, was he a delight to talk to! Amazing chap and it really amazes me how he has ensured such impeccable safety for his own people and customers. I did tell him to up his prices but he believes to not rake in the moolah given the tough situation everyone is in today. Definitely coming again. Highly recommended to...
Read moreHonestly the food was so disappointing that I literally had to start an account to review the place. The garlic naan that was ordered barely had any garlic on it. Would not recommend. You are better of ordering the Tandoori Roti, which is not bad. The Paalak Paneer (Spinach and Cottage Cheese) is by far my most favorite dish, just not at this restaurant. It's bland, tasteless and even sweet at some point. They are stingy with the Paneer Cubes which just adds on to the disappointment. The Aloo Paratha and Paneer Paratha are other avoids. They lack filling and any taste. They basically do not resemble any Paratha at all, and I hope people do not think that these dishes actually taste like this. The dish I would recommend is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It's nice and tastes, well, good. The only complaint I would have is that the chicken felt a little old. Pretty well rounded off dish otherwise. Cost to Quality ratio is probably not the best. Hope it...
Read moreTulsi is tucked away in the corner of a building and isn't really that easy to find. It was one of the few Indian restaurants in the area and is a good choice for lunch. They offer vegetarian and non vegetarian sets that are priced at 75 hkd. The set comes with nam, rice and a few dishes portioned in snack style portions. They also offer single dish sets if you don't want the variety.
Food: 3.5 stars Environment: 2.5 stars Service: 3 stars Value: 4 stars Overall: 3.25 stars
The service is efficient and the food comes out quick but don't expect much in terms of interaction from the staff. They will acknowledge you and take your order and give you your food and that's about it.
The food is ok and nothing really special. My office had a few vendors that were from India based in HK for a few months and they wouldn't eat here. For me the food is not that bad and fills a need when I want...
