Lunch

Green Thai Curry Risotto:

Fantastic. Good heat level, bite sized tender chicken chunks, and perfect rice consistency. I particularly appreciated the cheese powder which gives a satisfying spike of sweet and savoriness. Well balanced.

Garlic Naan:

Pretty bad, unfortunately. The dough is stodgy and dense, and exhibits none of the light, fluffy, elastic chewiness one associates with naan…at least good naan. No air bubbles. It’s more like a western flatbread. Reminded me of Pizza Hut dough base. I cleaned the risotto plate right up; I couldn’t finish most of the naan, even though the former is supposedly heavy and the latter should be light. Decent garlic kick, though.

Thai Ice Milk Tea:

Appealing modern presentation that unfortunately separates the three core elements: tea, sweetness, and milk. If you don’t spend a couple minutes mixing everything until it’s the familiar orange colour, it will taste terrible. After mixing? It’s a Thai milk...

Food and drinks take a long time to come out. Service is slow and the staff just linger around the bar area and don't come over right away when you raise your hand - took them a good 1 minute to arrive. They seemed quite hesitant to help or provide service. I ordered a Brew Dog Black Heart beer and it didn't come out after 15 minutes. Turns out it was left sitting on the counter unattended and I had to follow up on it. Some of the main dishes were decent, like the chicken biryiani and the lamb ghosh. The Thai green curry risotto had a nice flavor profile. Garlic Naan was on the tough side and the roti canai, being an appetizer, came near the end of dinner. The Thai high gin (purple colored) cocktail was not good at all, and tasted like cough syrup. There bar snacks are the same price as what's listed on the main menu, so no discount there during happy hour. Pricing is on the steeper end for Indian-Thai-Malaysian...

Sage & Salt is an al fresco restaurant specializing in a diversity of Asian cuisine ranging from Indian, Thai to Vietnamese.

Lamb Kofta Finely seasoned with aromatic spices. Flavorful and strong lamb taste. Served with refreshing mint chutney which went well with intense lamb. One of the best I've had in HK.

Lamb Shank The lamb shank had been cooked to perfection. Super tender meat and tendons. Rich and fragrant curry. Cleaned my plate at ease!

French Beans w/ Minced Pork Thought it'd be like a typical stir-fried dish but turned out it was served as a lettuce wrap. Nice wok hay. Minced pork and chopped beans mixed with savory bean chili sauce.

Vietnamese Coffee Not overly sweetened. Slightly bitter coffee. Ideal drink after the scrumptious meal.

In additional to relaxing atmosphere and outstanding food quality, the staff were also very attentive. Definitely...
