Food was pretty good. But service was awful, sorry to say. We arrived at 9:25 pm. Close is 10. We were first refused because of that… there were 2 other patrons.

We were allowed to sit and eat. After ordering, we were asked to pay immediately- quite rudely. We said we’d like receive all our food before paying because - it’s a sit down restaurant and we were worried things wouldn’t come.

We received 1 dish and again payment was demanded. Key word. Demanded. Food arrived at 9:45 for 3 people…

10 pm rolls around and even thought we were Uber close to finishing, they turned the lights out on us, started grabbing plates that weren’t finished, stood with arms folded… locked bathrooms.

Not a welcoming environment what’s so ever. Do not recommend. Or only recommend take out. Food is good.

Personally-...

Bun Cha is a small Vietnamese place on Aberdeen Street in Central. They have a small indoor seating area, one outdoor table and can send out delivery through deliveroo for those who prefer to eat from within the comfort of their home, office or area hotel.

Ordered from Bun Cha recently had food delivered in 33 minutes. Food was packaged for delivery rather well but a lot of use of plastic. Raw beef pho was pretty good. The beef was very fatty and stringy but the broth was fine and the rest of the ingredients made this a good bowl. The veggie rolls in rice paper wrap were ok. Probably most enjoyed was green papaya salad, with was fresh and vibrant in flavours.

Overall, not a bad meal from Bun Cha but less enjoyed to other places we like for Vietnamese around the Sheung Wan and...

It has been years since I dined at Bun Cha Vietnamese restaurant and their beef pho is as good as I remembered.

Arrived early on a weekday for lunch and got seated right away. They do offer lunch sets which have the same price as the regular menu; the only different is that if you order from the lunch sets menu, you get a free drink.

I ordered the Pho Dac Biet (cooked & raw beef soup noodles) and the broth had a great earthy, aromatic taste, without being too oily. They used good quality beef and all the toppings & garnishes were fresh as well. When compare to other popular Vietnamese restaurants in town, their pho is very flavour but yet not as savory. Somehow, it makes me...

Response to the owner's comment: Thank you for the response. I completely understand highlighting the difference between Northern and Southern Vietnamese cuisine—Northern flavors can sometimes come across as more subtle, especially to those more familiar with Southern-style dishes. That said, I felt the reference to the restaurant’s accolades was a bit dismissive of my personal experience. My feedback came from an honest place based on what I tasted and how I was treated during my visit. I believe every diner’s experience matters, regardless of media recognition. I hope this is taken in the spirit of constructive feedback.
