Went to my first Hong Kong bar with my boyfriend and I'm so glad we chose this place to go to. It was such an unforgettable night in Hong Kong night life and set the bar very high for any other bars I've ever tried.

I was looking for a chill bar with a good vibe and atmosphere and I got that and much more. The cocktails here were incredible and so unique. Each item on the menu had its unique touch and definitely drinks I've never seen at any other bars which I loved. Something new and refreshing which is incredibly rare. The taste of every drink was made with precision and perfection. The combination of flavours was just the right amount of every ingredient. The workers were very helpful in explaining the origin and specifics of every cocktail. I ordered "The sun also rises" and "demons got darker". Both were delicious in their own way. 'Demons got darker' is a refreshing cool drink and 'The Sun Also Rises' is a lot stronger and sipping type of drink. You'll be able to find a drink that's just right for you.

Servers always looked after us during our time here. Super friendly staff and very social which I really appreciate making it an unforgettable evening on our last night in Hong Kong. They joked around with us and really made us feel comfortable and welcomed. We even celebrated one of the staffs birthday, to which I hope you have an incredible one! Although it was busy which is to be expected, the workers made sure we were always looked after and got us a seat as soon as possible. Thank you to all the workers last night for your hard work and incredible spirits! If we ever travel back to Hong Kong, I will definitely be coming back!

If you're ever in Hong Kong and need a refreshing experience, this is the hidden gem you need to visit!...

The Old Man is an absolute must visit whether you are a tourist, local, seasoned cocktail connoisseur, or even just slightly interested in the cocktail world. Not only is each drink extremely well thought out, but the effort and technique put into each is second to none. There is an immense amount of work behind the scenes for each and every drink and this alone sets The Old Man apart from 99% of every other bar out there.

Accompanying these cocktails is a beautifully laid out menu featuring exquisite photography of the drinks, ingredients, and a nicely written blurb tying the drink in to Hemingway's life.

Finally, and in my opinion equally as important as the drinks, is the people that are making them. Josh, Colin, and Seto are world class. Not only are they experts in the field of cocktails, but their outwardly friendly, generous, gracious, and comedic personalities result in a completely unmatched bar atmosphere where you find yourself suddenly engaging with the strangers around you, chatting about the drinks, where everyone is from, and just maybe about which American candies might be the best or worst.

If there is any hesitation to visit, just know this: I walked into The Old Man for a drink or two and ended up staying nearly 6 hours. The drinks are that good. The people are that good. I implore you to pay...

This bar was great up till the ending, which left my partner and I with a super sour taste in our mouths.

To start off with the bad: we arrived pretty early at 7+ and had ordered 5 drinks. We got a good seat and were keen to continue drinking more - completely sober - but were “chased out” because another group of 4 were to take our seat. We were about to order another round of drinks but choose to leave cause we would’ve been switched to a standing area? I get it that businesses need revenue but we would’ve gotten more drinks and the ending was more ugly than needed.

  1. we were not told the space was reserved, and you can’t reserve unless you’re a group of 4 and above
  2. why ask us if we’re willing to give up our seats if another waiter is gonna come back and tell us “this seat is meant for 4, can you go to the standing area”? We said we would prefer not to change seats and another waiter came to tell us we “have to” anyway.

We would’ve had such a good time here if not for the way it ended.

Drinks were good, honestly the wait staff are damn good at their job and the drinks mixed well together even though we may not have ordered them again.

Show the staff the pictures if you’d like to try it.

It all ended well because we ended up going to Quinary which had super good drinks as well (though the ambience...

My night at The Old Man was, in a word, SPECTACULAR. Finding this hole-in-the-wall-in-an-alley joint was an adventure on its own. Inside, the clandestine, luxurious interior made me feel part of a secret club. Brimming with speakeasy character, The Old Man had “Best Bar” trophies lining the walls and intimate counter seating with its bar front-and-center. Josh and his team of bartenders take their hospitality and craft seriously. They dazzled us with drink after drink that boggled the mind and tingled the tastebuds - never failing to passionately explain and decode their unique creations for us. Each cocktail’s origin and design were detailed in a journal-style menu, a seasonal artifact to peruse while we sipped. The series of drinks we had… felt like an exhibition on cocktail artistry. Layered with gastronomic craft far beyond the typical. Josh and team expertly mixed ingredients you’d never conceive of to create alchemical works of art that tasted… like I said, spectacular. Go to The Old Man for a combination of theatricality, artisanal craft, flawless hospitality, and—most importantly—curious, delicious, weird and wonderful drinks.
