As of June 2024, this place has updated their name to Veggie Kitchen.
We decided to give this place a try as we stayed nearby. Although there were some language challenges, staff were friendly and helpful. Their menu is in both English and Chinese. Veggie Kitchen is a 100% vegetarian place and all their food is without allium.
We ordered: Sichuan style cabbage with fried “pork belly” slices (8/10) - fried in high heat the dish has a delicious wok hey chilli fried bean curd cubes (8/10) - something unique and this dish is moderately spicy stir fried potato, eggplant and green beans (7/10), it’s good but the other two dishes were better (stronger taste)
With purchase of main dish, the restaurant provided us with complimentary, delicious Chinese herbal soup. We much appreciated the warm, home made soup - specially on a rainy day!
Total bill for 3 a la carte dishes & 2 bowls of rice came out to be HKD 260. Good value for this delicious meal.
All in all, my family agreed this is one of the best vegetarian meals we’ve ever had in Hong Kong. Highly recommend this place for vegetarians and non...
Read moreIn a month in Hong Kong we visited Veggie Express five times. This is how much we love this place. A extremely extensive menu, extra choices for lunch and even breakfast, and none of the options have been disappointing. The best vegetarian (mostly vegan) place in HK, and it's one of the cheapest too! The service is the usual that you would expect in Hong Kong, but things are made easy for you to order if you don't speak cantonese. The place is always crowded, but don't let the fact that you have to wait a bit at the door stopping you from visiting this place. Important to mention, it is traditional cantonese cuisine, the dishe's names always mention the usually used meat, but the "veganisation" of these dishes never feel forced. The meat is never replaced by some tasteless soymeat substitute, and I'm saying this because even the biggest meat eater is going to forgot he/she is eating vegan food. We also went once with my family of 8, and the staff have been extremely convenient to help us seat all together. Nothing bad to say about this place, I'm sorry...
Read moreWhenever I’m around, this is definitely the shop that I’ll visit to grab my lunch. My personal favourite is its fried noodles with mushroom which is served on a bed of crispy noodles top with various mushrooms and some vege.
Make sure you request for their chilli sauce if you can take spicy food because they are like match make in heaven. Their meal comes with add on for soup which is highly recommended, alternatively you can get your regular ice tea or coffee and so on.
This time I ordered a fried yam in fish shape, I have tried better ones elsewhere and this is relatively subpar.
Overall their lunch set are very affordable and the baked pork chop rice is also highly...
