賽西湖公園，坡地而建，形狹長如盒，園步道曲迴如藏於盒子內的折叠帶子。公園建於80s，園涼亭坐椅，皆水泥結構，注重幾何及流線。現在看來，有點稚拙，卻甚具特色，覺得乃一個時代一種特色。賽西湖有它的故事。以前這裏是七姊妹水塘，屬於太古糖廠的一個私人水塘。水塘建於1894年。遂成遊覽景點，風景與西湖並論，遂得賽西湖稱譽。70年代水塘填平，興建賽西湖大廈和公園。昔日水塘遺跡唯剩水壩水管隧道口，隱蔽於公園內。遺跡座落在公園東北出入口山坡上。雖然只是一個水管隧道口，造工也甚講究。新古典建築的花岡石拱，三角楣上刻有建塘年份；楣樑刻小字5號壩英文，額刻大字太古煉糖有限公司英文；兩邊柱體立面與圖拱拱心石修飾功能多於實用；拱心石週圍飾對稱，像佛教背光火燄紋意味，而其內蜂窩飾紋，有幾分穆斯林寺飾樣的相像。連鄰的古樸石牆，或許同是水塘遺跡；如今樹根盤踞石牆隙間。水塘遺跡並無路逕，只能攀越欄杆入坡地前往。當日有公園緩跑常客提點，遺跡草莽濕地，有蛇穴，曾見蛇蹤。所以前往者注意。昔時造園者並沒有考量遊人古跡憑弔的設想，如今保育意識提高，如果能開闢道徑，將遺跡變成公園可通的景點，那就好了!...
