Hi, I am a tourist from Singapore visiting Hong Kong for the first time and I had patronized your Bakehouse outlet at āShop G19, G/F, Citygate Outlets, 20 Tat Tung Road, Tung Chung (Lantau Island)ā on 02 Dec 2024 18:55:17 Order No. E795 according to the photo of your receipt that I took on my phone. My feedback is both a complaint and an enquiry to your company so I would kindly request for your response as soon as you are able to provide to me. I was with my mom and we had just finished eating the bread and pastries that we ordered from your outlet, and at the outdoor sitting area of the Bakehouse outlet when one of your female staff who we believe to be from Philippines shouted at us threateningly to dispose the waste leftover paper packaging of the bread and pastries. Isnāt it the job of your staff to attend to disposing the customers waste leftover paper packaging from your outlet? As a Sidenote I had also noticed that earlier on one of your local female staff had cleaned up the other table next to us without having to request the customer to do that. I feel that if your company were to have an outdoor sitting area then your staff should not be expecting customers to clean up the table after use especially because it is not a communal shared sitting area like a kopitiam. Another example is that other reputable similar coffee shops such as Starbucks also do not expect customers to clean up the table themselves. Your company should educate your staff to not try to bully its customers into cleaning up the table and sitting area after use, and if your company expects its customers to do so then clear signboards must be put up. Please kindly provide your response and actions taken against the staff as soon as...
Ā Ā Ā Read morebakehouse has taken Hong Kong by storm over the past five years. They have long been very popular with local residents but with the city reopened after the pandemic, it seems the rest of the world has become bakehouse fans as well. Basically all of their shops now have queues throughout the day with residents and tourists waiting turn to enter and pick up some of their tasty bakery and bread products.
This new branch in Tung Chung is located on the G/F of the Citygate Shopping Mall. The entrance is from the outside area, just outside the MTR Station as well. They have some outdoor tables and a managed queue outside the seating area. Opening hours are 8am to 9pm daily.
On the whole, everything is pretty good at bakehouse. They are most famous these days for their sourdough tarts which are a nice alternative to the local style egg & milk tarts as well as the Portuguese style tarts that prevail in sister city Macau. I love them but like Portuguese style tarts, you need to eat them soon after ordering while fresh and warm and while the crust is still crunchy and flaky.
Savoury items are very good. Sausage rolls yummy, beef rendang pies are shockingly nice for those who fancy meat pies. Cheese & onion scones are a regular pickup for me. Croissants are flaky and fluffy. Sweet pastries always nice as well. I like their apple crumble, cinnamon rolls and cookies. Their Christmas seasonal Lebkuchen (Nuremburg style cinnamon and ginger cookies) are so good.
I usually pass by one of the bakehouse branches a few times a month and was happy to find everything tried from the new Tung Chung branch to be exactly what is expected. Well worth a try if in this area of the city and interested in popular...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe happened to be around the Tung Chung area at the time and figured why not checking out Bakehouseās newest location opened. Nice to see the bakery flourishing around HK even further and while same standards apply and you can find their signature pastries here (like the egg tarts of course, and no surprise these sold out the time we came byā¦), they had their specials which you can only find at this location like their Honey Milk Toast Danish and Tiramisu soft serve ice cream. The toast was great but the soft serve was ok. There was a line too, but it moved fast as thereās two cashiers open. Though, Iām knocking down my rating because one of the staff members taking our order at the time had an attitude, which weāve never experienced at any other Bakehouse locations up until this one. We wanted to have some coffee as well upon seeing the menu above, to which the staff member rolled their eyes and said to us that they donāt serve coffee at their Tung Chung location. Donāt get me wrong; itās fine if coffee isnāt available but why the poor attitude thoughā¦?
Iāve been a fan of Bakehouse since their first location opened, and while the pastries are consistent, my experience here with the service surprised and disappointed me. Perhaps Iāll stick to the other current...
