Had dinner here at this Japanese version of a Western style cafe. As others have said you can expect a lot of fusion foods here. To summarise the environment was very nice, the Staff very good and helpful, the food was good. There were many interesting things on the menu I'd like to go back to try so I can recommend this place to those with an adventurous palette. All up we paid $708 for three people which included one alcoholic beverage, three set dinners and an extra taco.
One dish I would like to write about in further detail are the Japanese inspired tacos. They look fantastic on arrival like in the menu, yet it did feel like social media made up food, good photos yet the eating aspect wasn't as smooth.
The seaweed "taco" is lightly deep-fried I think so it holds its shape and has great flavour. Rice is put at the bottom of this and the fancy filling goes on top. You can't eat this without everything falling off and going everywhere on your table. The Staff know this and give you a wet wipe. Just feels bad seeing all the top tasty filling on the table.
You can't bite the topping and the bottom rice together. So you're forced to eat the topping and you're left with the seaweed taco and rice only at the end. This isn't what I imagine biting into a typical taco should be as each mouthful should comprise of every single ingredient.
I would still eat these yet the execution of this fusion seemed poor. If the rice had been spread out from the bottom in a V shape with the filling inside that V, sure it might not look as good presentation wise, yet it'd be much more fulfilling per bite as you'd get all the...
Read moreCame here for dinner on a weekday. It was literally empty when I walked in (6 pm). I was promptly shown a seat and given the menu. I decided to get the set menu for 1 pax- ordered the crab and roe salad; oyster risotto and hot milk tea, and added a yuzu mochi mousse for dessert.
They serve free drinking water which the staff was very attentive to help me top up each time it was empty. Each dish came fast. The ambience was quiet and peaceful and the decor was zen and beautiful at the same time.
The crab salad was really tasty; and the oyster risotto was piping hot and of a generous portion. I loved every single dish here- both the presentation, quality and taste.
The yuzu mochi mousse was nice but I wish they added more yuzu :)
My only gripe is that the staff do not smile at all. It's as if they'll get punished for smiling. Price is on the high side but I thought it was worth it. Great time here and...
Read moreAn absolute stunner. From their visually pleasing Japanese themed restaurant, to their THICK cut sashimi laid over a perfectly cooked fluffy bed of steamed rice, and their beautifully fried appetisers followed by the indulgent flavourful desserts, I've visited the cafe at least 3 times and I definitely would be back. All their ingredients taste extremely fresh, and the cook on every aspect of every dish i was served was paired and done with such immaculate execution. I had tried every single one of their salads and each one was unique in their own way and yet tasted so refreshing and hearty. The sheer freshness of their sashimi made every bite so satisfying and their fusion dishes worked extremely well together. Their desserts are packed with rich flavours that lingers in your mouth and could make a...
