Cafe Aficionado — Restaurant in Islands District

This is definitely not a cafe as a such, and it named Aficinado "enthusiastic " is not the feeling you have to go back once you eat there!

It's a buffet at the airport hotel. You go there because it's practical to have something to eat fast.

That said, the food and desserts are pretty decent....nothing exciting but on average. The good thing with a buffet is that you can always find something to eat that matches your expectations.

There's a mix of Asian and Western food... from Chinese to Japanese , Indian, seafood, etc...

They have a good choice of salade and fruit... and they also have some pastery and ice cream.

For lunch, it was crowded by travellers' groupes and also those who are in transit in HK airport or have missed their flights for different reasons& waiting for the next one.

I can't really comment on staff, almost zero contact as they are...

We had a layover recently and had to stay at Regal which came with dinner and breakfast. But wow, the chefs really hated us so much I can feel the disgust when they serve me the food at their counters. It felt so degrading and I'm starting to see myself more of a beggar than a customer. I dont expect smiles and all but at least, dont ignore us when we are at your counter awaiting for you to take our orders. If you already made us wait so long, standing there like an idiot, why would you slap those beef slices so reluctantly on our plates? Do we owe you a living? Really bad...

Cafe Aficionado is the International Buffet restaurant on the ground floor of Regal Airport Hotel. Breakfast here is usually included with room bookings at the hotel, which is why we took morning meal here recently. Opening hours are 6am to 3pm (breakfast and lunch) and 6pm to midnight (dinner) daily.
