Kwok Kam Kee Cake Shop is a famous local bakery in the heart of Cheung Chau and a popular place for residents and tourists to try when visiting the island. They are located several hundred metres south of Pek Tai Temple and are open from 6am to 7pm daily.
This little shop has been open for over 40 years and famously supplies the ping on bao (peace and prosperity buns) used for the annual Bun Festival. These are steamed buns made year round but only ready in the afternoon each day, around 2pm. They are filled with different sweet pastes (sesame, red bean or lotus seed) and have a lucky red stamp on them. Being a very popular place, expect a queue if you are trying to visit them during weekend afternoons.
If you visit earlier, you can try a variety of breads, buns and pastries that are on offer throughout the day.
