SCAM!!! OVERPRICED!!! RUDE MANAGER, RUDE STAFF!!
Moon Lok Chiu Chow – Negative Review
We had no choice but to eat here since it was near mall closing hours and this was the only restaurant still open. We were offered either house tea or warm water. We chose house tea. Then they served us starters, which for us is normal in Chinese restaurants and usually complimentary.
We ordered, the food was served, and then suddenly they gave us the bill even though we weren’t finished eating. They said they needed to close their cash register, so we paid. While we were still eating, the staff began clearing empty plates from our table. Then someone started mopping the floor with a disinfectant that had such a strong smell it ruined our appetite. The staff were murmuring in Chinese and laughing while we were still there.
When we saw the bill, it was almost 9,000 pesos for just three people and a few dishes. This was shocking, unbelievable, and unacceptable. Still, we paid. But we wondered why it was so expensive, so we used Google Translate since the bill was written in Chinese. That’s when we discovered we had been charged for the house tea, the warm water, and even the starters! This was the first time we had ever been charged for things that are normally free and “on the house” at other Chinese restaurants.
We called the waiter and asked why we were billed for items we never ordered. The waiter couldn’t answer in English and had to call another staff member, who then had to call someone else. Finally, a lady came out to speak to us—and she was extremely rude. She just showed us the last page of their menu which stated that once you sit down, you are automatically charged a certain amount that covers starters, house tea, and water.
We told her that in all the other Chinese restaurants we’ve eaten at, this has never been the case. The staff nearby laughed at us. We said they should have at least informed us, especially since we are foreigners. But the lady said they didn’t need to tell us because “all Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong do the same thing.” She said this with an arrogant attitude, smacking her lips with freshly applied lip gloss, raising her eyebrows, and showing a face full of rudeness.
The staff continued murmuring and laughing at us. On top of all that—the food was not even good.
This restaurant is nothing but a scam. Overpriced, rude staff, terrible service, and bad food. AVOID...

I have to remove this from my fav food list. Also everything body says the food is pricy which is true because there’s food that’s worth the money, there’s not. This is obviously the latter. No experience whatsoever. Why bother coming here. Spent $455 for three dishes. One has no taste — corn soup, something clearly unwashed with sandy substance. One is too salty — fried pepper leaves chicken and when mentioned why there’s no veggies at first. The server pointed out that the fried leaves are veggies and they are expensive if ordered it add on like $20 sth dollars according to her. Tried the chicken meat. Way Too salty. I mentioned it at the cashier when doing the payment. Not planning to complain. Just a heads up. She just repeated what I said. Oh it’s too salty that’s pretty much it.
One dish is too mushy. And it was served on a tiny plate for $130. Almost $20US for one dish and why does this fall into a $$ category. This is $$$$ for ordinary Chinese restaurant standard. Once again. No experience eating here. Not even giving any napkins.
I have no words w this horrible store.
