Subject: Disappointing Experience at Oolaa Citygate
Dear Oolaa Citygate Team,
I would like to share my recent experience at your restaurant, which unfortunately did not meet our expectations.
Before entering, we specifically asked the waiter for menu options that did not include onion or garlic. He assured us that our chef could accommodate our request. We ordered a Margherita pizza without onion and garlic. However, when the pizza arrived, it contained green pesto. When we inquired about the pesto, the waiter mentioned it had "just a little" garlic. As we do not consume onion or garlic, we expressed our concerns and noted that our order had not been correctly fulfilled.
The waiter insisted that the menu stated the pizza came with pesto, which was disappointing. We requested a new pizza, but instead, he returned the same pizza after wiping off the pesto and adding cheese on top.
To our surprise, when we called the manager to address the situation, she informed us that the pizza sauce contained both onion and garlic. This raised further concerns about how the waiter could serve us a dish that did not align with our dietary restrictions. Although the manager kindly canceled the pizza from our bill, the overall experience left us dissatisfied.
We believe that better training for the waitstaff regarding dietary restrictions and menu items would greatly enhance the dining experience for future customers.
Thank you for your attention to this...
Read moreMy first revisit after few years ago, which I filed a complaint to their management about very long waiting time for their food and poor service of a particular receptionist / waitress.
This time my wife went for the 4-egg omelette with ham, tomato and swiss cheese, served with sourdough bread. We weren't being asked about the choice of bread, nor informed it's not just typical "sourdough bread" but with multi-grain which my wife is allergic to, so she had to pass those to me. The omelette fillings portion was absolutely PATHETIC, there was only some scarse chopped bits of ham and tomato, and very little hint of cheese, you can see from the photo. For $165, the rent must be super expensive for this venue I imagine.
While my Oolaa Cob salad with grilled salmon was slightly better, most ingredients were reasonably tasty, except the salmon sadly overcooked. And portion still towards the stinky side.
Waiting time was around 40 minutes while restaurant was less than half full. I'd suggest their management to recalibrate their brunch menu pricing and food portion being served. Guess I'll check back in...
Read moreThis is probably the best restaurant which I have been to in Tung Chung. During the weekdays, they have a good lunch set which includes a starter, a main and a drink (you can add on dessert), and there are some really good options. They have vegetarian options and gluten-free options. The Fish and Chips may be one of the best I have had in Hong Kong because there is a really good serving of tasty mushy peas. The places I have been to in Hong Kong either donât have mushy peas, or they just give you a few green peas. They also give a really good selection of condiments to have with the fish and chips. From the rest of my table, they ordered from the Brunch Menu, had an Angus Beef Burger (which they really enjoyed), and the sides of Broccoli and Caesar salad. Service is really good at Oolaa and we have never been let down by the service or the quality of food. There is no service charge, so be sure to tip! Payment is accepted in various forms, including AliPay HK, other QR code payments, Credit...
