Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Islands District

My family and I have gone to this branch ever so often since they've opened and have always appreciated the quality of food and service... until recently (as of May 5, 2023). A lot of the familiar faces have gone and unfortunately the new staff are not just not up to standard.

After enjoying a movie at the cinema, we decided to plop down here for a nice dinner. We ordered a Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, Spicy Chicken Wings, Aussie Cheese Fries and a Black Label Rib Eye. The wings, fries and steak were served, and realized they haven't even given us any bushman's bread to start. After a while, the salad arrived, but it wasn't the Caesar - I believe it was the Tropical Mango Chicken Salad. I kindly told the server that this wasn't the one I ordered, only to be told "yes, this is chicken salad". I said "no, it's not Chicken CAESAR salad". He turned around and looked at another server, mouthed something to him, turned back to us and actually had the audacity to say "but you order this". Needless to say I was annoyed, told him to just cancel the order and didn't even bother to ask about the bushman's bread (why risk it even?).

In conclusion, a pleasant evening was ruined by absolutely poor service....

Never imagine i’d have Outback in HongKong but here i am. The restaurant is decorated nicely with lovely staff and pretty service. My take is that the food was not particularly spectacular but still a good dinner fix if steaks are your thing. They start you off with some salad, bread and soup which was alright, taste of basic cream soup and Cesar salad, but their bread was of higher appraise, it was slightly sweet yet had an earthy whole wheat taste. For mains their surf and turf platter was pretty tasty, the ribs were fall of the bone, fish and potato wedges was fried well, however the fish was leaning towards the drier side and the shell fish was also juicy and succulent though of a smaller variety. The steak we ordered was seasoned beautifully, had the perfect medium rare cook to it, served with a side of a sad amount of oil drenched roasted greens (including slices carrots, which i wasn’t expecting). The cut on the carrots also made the vegetables feel greasier than it probably was, which was unfortunate, but at least all the food had a good colour on them and served aesthetically. Overall decent food but not a place i would plan to go back to if not for...

Terrible service

First waiter only order food from the ladies snd walked away. Didn't take order from the men's.

Then when the bread taste good we order 1 more free bread. Never came. Then the table beside us who just sat down got bread. Our bread never came.

Then when we bring our own bottle of wine we had to $200.00 to open it. No problem. But they said I had to pay for it now. Food hasn't come and we haven't made our order and had to pay it right now.

Then we order sparkling water. Bring js the bottle but didn't open. Then when we order a second bottle. Took them 30min and we bad yo remind them.

The food wasn't great. Soup of the day had no taste. We had 5 people and 4/5 people didn't finish their dish is because the spaghetti was dry, fettuccine was dry, the steak had no seasoning. Even the salad no one finish.

Then when the waiter were taking plates. Didn't take the plates with care. Throw them onto the dish cart so loud and keep shocking my friends.

Will we come back?...
