If I could rate 0 stars I would, but 1 star is the minimum I could give for a review. I've never left a restaurant feeling more disrespected. Seriously, I've experienced better service at fast food chains.
When my friends and I chased on our order more than 30 minutes after placing it, we were told that the entire order never actually got through. The waiter brushed it off like it was nothing, instead just placing the blame on the system/kitchen. Then, after taking our order for the second time, we realised that another item had been left out. It took around 45 minutes since we were sat at the table for our food and drinks to finally come.
When the bill came, my friends and I realised that we were charged an additional $670 HKD for an item that we never even ordered. After raising the issue to the same waiter who took our order, he immediately put the blame on someone else, claiming, again, that it was not him who had put the item onto our bill as if this was something my friends and I just had to deal with.
In the end, I spoke to the restaurant manager, expressing our frustration. Instead of offering any kind of compensation, he retaliated by asking: "so what do you want us to do?".We felt humiliated and disrespected by this kind of attitude and unprofessionalism. At this price range, we really expected more from this restaurant, including just basic respect.
While the waiter and manager did apologise, we felt that the apology was not a single bit sincere--it felt like they just wanted us to leave and nothing more. Overall, the service we received from this restaurant just really took us by surprise--we were made to feel that all of the issues that were thrown at us were just ours to accept, and that the restaurant was not to be blamed.
It comes to us as no surprise now that bookings always seem to be available on openrice. It's safe to say that we will NOT be visiting Joia again.
Oh, and by the way, the food...
Read moreThe food was acceptable, good presentation. Service was a mixture of good and terrible. I informed a large size Nepalese waitress (I asked for her name however the staff would not share hence having to write my experience here and not directly to the restaurant) we were ready to order, she looked me in the eye, walked away and never came back. She was so rude throughout our meal I had to speak to the manager who was apologetic for her behaviour. The Nepalese waiter serving us was super polite, it's a shame because it was overshadowed by that rude waitress, we were informed it would be her last day today. Unlucky for her new boss. I am not prejudiced but the service given by the guys were overall much better. I could see the girls talking about the customers right...
Read moreso I went with 2 friends ytd and sitting outdoor. we ordered 3 iced lemon tea and when the waiter brought us the drink, he literally pour the whole glass on lemon tea on my friends’s arm and shirt and shoes. The glass broke and my dog almost stepped on it. He said “sorry” emotionalessly and went in. When we about to pay the bill, there is no discount or anything offered as a gesture so I asked the staff if that even make sense. Well after 4-5 mins they came out and offer us a 10% discount ($40 HKD off). Wow thank you! my friend ended up paying $90 for dry cleaning his shirt and his shoes is still have the tea stain...
