Ordered a lunch set. The corrianda soup was bland, the Argentina striploin looked okay but was flavorless, even worse was the matcha latta, which was totally lack of coffee flavor/aroma. Order was done via app, waitress sounded like a robot when we asked for what's the soup of the day. $200 for a lunch set was totally waste of money.
Matcha latte, thank you for clarifying, I appreciate you informing me of the difference.
The attitude of the waitress, I asked someone the way to Fa Yuen Street on my way to the restaurant, I can assure you that the random pedestrian gave a more natural & sincere respond than your waitress.
MSG, I might understand your commitment to avoiding artificial additives, however I believe the natural MSG present in may ingredients, which can be a valuable tool for enhancing flavour without compromising on quality. The watery coriander soup I tasted today was not acceptable at all. A better broth should be used as the base.
Steak, not good quality and flavorless as I mentioned in my original review. Not exactly sure what is the price breakdown on your reply for, did you mean it's a $165 meal instead of $200 so I shouldn't expect too much?
Voice out the comment on the spot? Or maybe you could ask your customer proactively after they finished their meal? Following up with customer on the food is not an approach that one could only find in fine dining restaurants. I would definitely tell you how bad I felt if anyone asked me on the spot.
In fact my friend was very not satisfied with the duck confit she ordered as well.
While I appreciate the dedication to French techniques and fresh ingredients, I couldn't help but feel that the execution fell short. Perhaps channeling your passion into a different culinary area, like food writing or recipe development, might allow you to...
Read moreCute place to eat breakfast inspired by South of France from the owner. There are birds and flowers on this tropical wallpaper and the large windows appear to look into a garden, actually the street. This neighborhood of Hong Kong is famous for flower shops, so it is really like a garden. The lighting is whimsical with colorful lampshades looking like large flowers in an assortment of pastels. There is old fashioned jazz music softly playing in the background… 🎶 Small paintings of the owners cat and small, verses from the Bible are here and there. The atmosphere is both comfortable and elegant, which is hard to combine.
The cuisine is from a French trained chef. Try their veloute soups - they are creamy without dairy. I had their avocado toast and it was beautifully presented with avocado squeezed into little decorative balls, baby tomato slices and purple flowers. Their salad with egg was perfectly soft boiled cooked atop a toast and a kale salad. 🥗 They have nice matcha latte tea. Everything is really done well with meticulous effort and ease.
The owner wanted to cheer everyone up right after covid. So this was their creation. On Mondays, they have someone there to talk if you lost someone, if someone passed away. It is some charity and they can prearrange for someone to talk to. You can tell the owner really wanted to make a place of healing and happiness. I hope they continue to do well and maybe even have a South of France tiered afternoon tea set someday? ...
Read moreI have been a fan of this restaurant. However, I was very disappointed yesterday when I went there again with my girlfriend. The quality of food seems consistent, the service however has really gone down. The lady working at the coffee counter, insisted speaking to my in cantonese, despite my repeated statement in English that I do not understand. Her condescending attitude plus the overly priced coffee had totally overshadowed my dining experience. When I sipped my super small cup of cappuccino and told them it was too strong, would they please add some more milk, I was told I had to pay extra $7 for a dash of milk into the already expensive $45 tinny cup of cappuccino. This restaurant used to be a very cosy and guest friendly restaurant. Now it has turned into a money grabbing snobbish place that I would...
