Similar to ADC, this place also serves sets comprising of scrambled eggs and macaroni, however only the eggs and toast taste good at ADC. The macaroni only acts as a filler at ADC. However the macaroni at Man Wah tastes good, there are several options for macaroni, you can opt for noodles if you do not like macaroni. This place also serves dim sum and snacks such as fried chicken wings and pickled vegetables. If a normal sized macaroni doesn’t satisfy your hunger, they also have an extra large portion in a huge bowl. The main problem is that the tables are too small you can't order too much. Anyway, I ordered the set and tried the famous macaroni with liver in tomato broth, and the macaroni with liver in ginger broth, with scrambled eggs and toast. I also ordered chicken wings in cumin as well. The wings came first, the cumin was strong and generous, however the wings were over fried to the extent the chicken was dry and tough. The scrambled eggs were really good although ADC tastes better, the scrambled eggs here are much healthier and don’t contain as much oil and butter as ADC. The texture of the egg was so light and fluffy. The luncheon ham that came with it was just right and not too salty. The macaroni was really good as they were not mushy, tasteless or floury. The soup for the liver and ginger was good, the tomato was Ok but it was ruined by the ginger in the soup base. Tomato and ginger together...
Read moreI know this place well (for full on meals) but I'm alone this time for a late night supper - which comprises an iced milk tea and a toast with butter and added on condensed milk (I know the latter may be a weird combi for Singaporens, but it's delish!)
However, unlike yesteryears, the condensed milk was added directly onto the toast and served, as opposed to being served separately for me to apply or dip. And that made a big difference. I prefer having control over how sweet the toast would be.
Also, I could choose (via QR code scan/ order) to have less sugar/ sweetness for the iced milk tea - and that's good, but you can tell from the color of the tea - that it is not very concentrated/ thick in tea flavour.
Overall, a tad...
Read moreThe popular eatery was rather packed and noisy during our visit, including continuing small queues forming outside, of people waiting patiently to be seated. We were thus elated to be called quickly to "share table" with two other present diners, without having to endure a long, long wait. We ordered the curry beef brisket/tendon/omelette rice-set and the braised pork belly/lotus root rice- set. The former was truly highly enjoyable while the latter was a let-down: meat was too fatty to chew! Although the lotus roots were nice! Service and help were prompt from the harried and busied staff, despite the occasional hiccups due to...
