Warm Chinese Dinning Room with yummy BBQ pork haa

Second time coming here after renovation, it getting more comfortable sitting here, i like the arts paintings on the wall and the artistic menu book, presenting our HKโ€™s signature spots, you can see Shatin Racing Recourse, a horse eating siu mai, so cute, and ocean park is insides, such a creative and interesting painting to enjoy while having a meal

Appetizer Sweet Bitter melon tasting cool without bitter flavor at all cause they dipping them in sugar water, but you wonโ€™t feel too sweet, good balance, quite appetizing before our main

Roasted BBQ Pork in Rice is the most signature dish in Taiwai Dinning Room, the waiter is so eager introducing this dish to us, and using blow torch firing the layer of lovely bbq pork, making it crispier, and i love the texture of this tender pork, good balance in fat ratio, but only big thing is too big for one piece haa, and you can dipping fruit peel sauce actually i canโ€™t taste peel at all loll, but still so yummy dipping sauces and mixing pork with rice, dipping more rice earning more haa, the waiter is funny haa, indeed a good dish here and recommended

Whole Crab Rice having fried rice under crab, the crab is quite big and fat with many crab meats haa, the taste will be better if having stronger flavor, and fried rice is not bad

Deep Fried Bombay Duck with spicy salt is another very good dish here, i didnโ€™t have high expectation but turned out good, changed my feeling of bombay duck, well cooked and fresh soft fish insides, enjoyable dish here haa, canโ€™t resist to get one and more pieces haa

Fried Shrimps with Broccoli is ok, but its better i ate before, this time broccoli is a bit thick, better cooking longer time, big shrimp tastes not bad

Deep Fried Milk Ball with white rabbit, look attractive to me when i saw this in menu, white rabbit is one of my fav candy haa, and i love fried milk ball, this one even not having strong white rabbit flavor insides balls but i love the smooth texture of milk ball, milk flavor is strong , even not the best milk ball iโ€™ve tried

Split Pea Pudding is lovely with strong coconut flavor haa, soft pudding is good dessert after a full meal satisfied

Five Beans Sweet Soup looks so healthy, not too sweet which is good

The staffs are so nice and friendly, feeling warm talking with waitress haa, and they are helpful and so proactive, seeing we still have some dishes left feeling full for relatively large portion of some dishes haa, so asked whether we need take away boxes thank you, you will feeling home eating here, and wonโ€™t feel any pressure even thereโ€™re people queuing outsides, such a good dinning experience hereee, the whole environment simply comfortable(:

Taiwai Dining is the toughest dim sum spot to get a res in Hong Kong right now. It is listed on Michelin Guide 2023, honoring traditional dimsum and Cantonese dishes.

We made a res one month in advance but could only secure the last round (13:30). Unfortunately many dim sums were sold out e.g. Supreme Soup Sumpling (็Œๆนฏ้คƒ) and Black Sesame Roll (่Š้บปๅท).

๏ผŠ Signature Char Siu ็ฌฌไธ€ๅ‰๐ŸŒŸ I got my hopes up because of the glowing reviews online and was sad when I had my first bite. The thickly cut char siu was too tough that I gave up chewing itโ€ฆThe sauce really popped here though โ€” they flamed the char siu in front of you and slathered a thick glaze of tangerine honey. I still give it a star because the special sauce is worth a try.

๏ผŠSugar Egg Puff ๆฒ™็ฟ Another disappointment. Sugar Egg Puff is a deep fried egg dough sprinkled with granulated sugar. It became a kind of rare street food because of the complicated making procedures. However, their famous egg puff was cold and bland.

If you are willing to pay more for quality, this restaurant is your cup of tea.

One unique selling point here is that it serves some long lost traditional dishes that is too complicated to prepare. It is a wise business decision to provide them only on pre-order menu. Those dishes are not only hard to do but also hard to do right. I will come back for them and update this review ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Raved to be one of the local favorites and was even featured on Michelin's Bib Gourmand list; I found this place to be disappointing. Mostly disappointed at how value added to the dishes were not added in a justifiable way. While a few of the dishes were tasty, the price was not justified for the dishes we ordered. For example, their famous cha siu comes up to be 188.00 HKD per plate, and it comes with 5 pieces. The pieces were massive; but it wasn't the portion that turned me off, it was rather the bland sauce they added to the top of the cha siu and then proceeded with a "show" by torching the surface. Another dish that could be improved is the steamed meat cake with dried squid. The dish was overly salty and the squid that is typically incorporated into the meat cake itself, was merely sprinkled on top of the meat cake haphazardly. A few of the good dishes that night were actually the appetizers; the jelly fish was fresh and had a wasabi sauce that paired well with it, and the honey glazed walnuts with fried herbs. One of the saving graces of the night was the shrimp fried rice; this was extremely fragrant and the rice itself was stir fried to perfection. But even with a few great dishes, our overall experience was hampered by other bland dishes or dishes that had extraneous elements that didn't enhance the dishes' flavors.
