King's Belly — Restaurant in Tai Po District

My colleagues and I arrived one weekday late afternoon. We get the menu, then the bartender takes it away and says, "The kitchen is open, but there's no one there." We asked, "where did they go?" He said, "I don't know, he just walked out."

We bought some potato chips from 7-11 and the manager was really annoyed that we were eating it there. Actually, he was quite pissed. One of the guys in our small group has been going to this place for 4.5 years, and he said the guy was always grumpy. That's Hong Kong customer service, I guess.

Maybe it was my mistake to go there at lunch-time and order a-la-carte (fish & chips). It was just too bad. Overcooked fish in something I would not call a beer batter. The chips were flat and wide and dry at the ends, nowhere crispy. I asked the waitress about beers and she could not tell me that I ordered a cider.
