Bagatelle — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

A bit too overpriced for what's on offer. Review after one visit, because I might not visit again. Perdón, I'm a little picky about my doble espresso.

Thumbs up to the staff who seem to be working a little too hard to keep the place running.

Beverage - We ordered an aromatica and an espresso. The aromatica was ok, it was more like a hot water with a couple of pieces of ginger and a lot of lemon grass leaves, so many leaves that you literally have to pick out the leaves with a fork before you can get a decent sip out of the cup. Sigh! Now comes the unfortunate part about the espresso. When the espresso was served I noticed that there was just a thin Crema on top, and I could see the black coffee peeping out here and there sort of reminded me of a balding head; that was the first sign of an espresso that wasn't well made. In the first sip I was hit with a bitterness which is what you could get from a cheap instant coffee, so I stirred it a bit before my second sip to see if it made any difference, nope it didn't make any, I reluctantly took a third sip and had to ask for a replacement. I hate sending back food, but when you pay 6000 pesos for a double espresso, I might damn well ask for it to be made right! My replacement espresso arrived after about 15 minutes, too long to make an espresso! The replacement was better than the one before, drinkable but definitely didn't hit the spot.

Food - We ordered a pan de chocolate, there was definitely a lot of pan and a stingy hint of chocolate somewhere amidst the bread, we also ordered a Quiche which was ok, but definitely not worth 12000 pesos!

Service - They definitely have to up their service. The service is a bit disorganised and somehow everything is delayed. Had to wait about ten minutes before someone took your order, another fifteen minutes for an espresso, an aromatica, a pan de chocolate. The quiche arrived a few minutes later. My replacement espresso arrived a good 5 minutes after we had finished eating! I should mention that the staff are nice, but it's just a lack of training.

Ambience - Nothing much to write about. It's just any other city café.

I guess my rather lengthy rant is mostly because the price doesn't justify the quality of the food nor the service. I understand that Calle 109 is a prime location, but seriously it's not a location where I have a view of the...

No me gustó, principalmente por los precios, personalmente no me gustan los lugares costosos porque si, tiene que haber una relación costo-beneficio, pero aquí el costo es mucho más alto que el beneficio...en general todo es costoso, pero pedimos dos infusiones y un postre, porque ya habíamos comido en otro lugar afortunadamente, y tenía altas expectativas para un té de cerca de 10k, trajeron una prensa francesa pequeña con agua para apenas un pocillo mediano,ni una gota más, por supuesto el té quedó saturado en sabor y el agua no es muy costosa, pudieron dar para 2 tazas con esos precios e incluso más hierbitas, no estaba mal pero tampoco era el mejor té, el otro té era una creación de ellos (como la mayoría aquí, y sonaba bien en el menú, pero era un te con cacao, y muchas otras cosas, pero sabía a chocolate incipido en agua con canela y ya, los mismos té pero con leche de almendras tenía un costo adicional de 5k cada uno, en masa, vale 1.900 está adición, (más coherente)... el postre era diminuto, un mousse de chocolate con 3 tajadas pequeñas de pan que estaba durísimo para morder, no estaba viejo, solo muy duro...
