Café del Mercado is a special place. They roast onsite on Mondays. And of course I wandered in on a Monday. The aroma of the cafe is divine. I had a cappuccino and it was excellent. This cafe would be called a "specialty" or "craft" purveyor of coffee in the U.S. In Bogota, there are many high quality cafes. This one does stand out from the 5 or 6 I've visited so far. They will brew your coffee via 3 or 4 methods, to your liking. The server and barista were very patient with my Español. The server spoke to me in good English. That was very much appreciated. We chatted about coffee in general and he recommended cafes for my next destination, Medellin. The ambience was so nice. A clear roof, with the rain pounding on it, a nice small upstairs seating area, windows that open to the street. This is a "must visit" cafe in La Candelaria.

Cute coffee shop with a lot of natural light and an overhanging patio garnished with hanging plants. The setting is pleasant and peaceful. We first ordered coffee lattes which came rather cold; however, the ladies were accommodating enough to make other ones. The hot coffees were delicious. On top of that, they have dairy-free milk, which is highly pleasurable. They have strong wifi and outlets, which is convenient to work and study.

The best coffee in Bogota? YES!! I ordered filter coffee of Geisha bones, and with very special care she first weighed the exact grams of coffee beans before grinding, that smell was already mesmerising, then the exact volume of 90 degrees water slowly pooring onto the coffee. What you then taste is the most delicate coffee with flavours of citrus, flowers and even some spice. Slow coffee at his best. Highly highly recommended!
