Pizza Candelaria — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

A Gem! Best Italian food in La Candelaria if not all of Bogota!

First of all, i want to say what a very pleasant surprise.! I didn’t imagine an extraordinary Italian restaurant in La Candelaria. We have been coming to this neighborhood for years and always look for authentic Colombian cuisine. This new restaurant for us, blew us away! The ambience was exceptional as was the food, the music, and the attention of the staff, Carlos, the owner, his sister. All who welcomed my wife and I as if we were rockstars! Let’s start with the food, i had a plate of the Ossobuco with veal that was to die for. The meat just fell of the bone and the taste was very impressive. My wife had the lasagna and she is very picky. She gave the plate a 10. She really liked the mixture of the chicken, mushrooms and the bacon with a delicious cheese incorporated in the plate. We also ordered a small pizza to see how it compared to all the reviews of people speaking very highly of the crust. It was delicious! We had the Hawaiian pizza which was with pineapples and ham…just cooked very well! We enjoyed each slice. I would like to thank Carlos for coming over and being so gracious and even giving us a short tour of the upstairs and walking us to the entrance. On the way, he introduced us to his Mom and i just had to take a picture…that touched my heart. For all who want to go to a special place for delicious Italian cuisine…please take my recommendation and go...

Amazingly flavorful pizza with great customer service. We went twice while I was in Colombia. The tables close to where they make the drinks are a little loud so we asked to move and they were very nice and understanding. The first time we went I had the formaggi(mozzarella, blue cheese, Gruyère, Parmesan) thin crispy crust light tangy tomato sauce with an amazing burst of salty creamy cheese and we had the capresse(mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella, tomato and pesto of the house). A lighter, softer cheesy flavor with the pesto throughout made this pizza easy to eat. Both would be good if you’re not too hungry but they’re decent sizes. The next time we went the pizzas were much meatier lol. I tasted a pizza with chicken and prunes special ordered. I didn’t think I’d like it but it was full of chicken and the prunes were slightly sweet and enhanced the flavor of the chicken. I ordered the Massima(mozzarella, toniceta ahimada, prosciutto, salami, and arugula), just fantastic flavor of meats and the fresh arugula balanced every bite with olive oil drizzle and some added pepper flakes( on my part) made this pizza perfect. I have to say my favorite was the formaggi but I’m an avid lover of cheese. I hope you get to taste this pizza at some point....

Descubrí este restaurante gracias a una amiga y la verdad que procuro volver cada que se me presenta la oportunidad, la comida es de otro nivel, es exquisito, si quieren invitar a alguien a compartir una rica pasta carbonara o una deliciosa pizza créanme que este es el lugar perfecto. La reacción de las personas que he llevado al probar por primera vez tan exquisitos platos no tiene precio.

Comida 10/10 Los ingredientes son de alta calidad, se nota en el sabor, siempre frescos, sabores distintos en cada plato, las pizzas son una explosión de creatividad de otro nivel. El tamaño de los platos es óptimo para una persona promedio. La comida usualmente no tarda mucho en estar.

Precio 9/10 La relación calidad-precio es bastante adecuada, los platos no son tan costosos y son exquisitos.

Atención 11/10 La atención del lugar es bastante agradable, los y las meseras siempre dispuestos a ofrecer las exquisiteces que aquí se preparan con una sonrisa y una gran cordialidad. Si tienen la oportunidad de ser atentidos por el dueño, el Sr. Carlos la experiencia va a ser aún mejor ya que es una persona que conoce muy pero muy bien lo que hace, se nota que le apasiona su trabajo y le presta atención a cada detalle, además que la primera vez que uno va como en mi caso personal puede que no entiendan mucho sobre los platos ya que hay bastantes nombres en italiano y que para muchos de nosotros puede que sea la primera vez en la vida que los escuchen así que el Sr. Carlos los puede asesorar para que puedan pedir un plato que les guste o si son alérgicos a algún ingrediente como el huevo, el tómate etc. Y de paso pueden aprender sobre la cultura y la cocina italiana/mediterránea.

Lugar 9/10 El lugar es pequeño pero acogedor, siempre que puedan intenten reservar para que no se queden esperando o simplemente pierdan la oportunidad de probar estos platos tan maravillosos y deliciosos.

En días frios o lluviosos tiene la desventaja de que al ofrecer servicio en la calle es probable que uno se moje. Sin embargo el lugar cuenta con mesas adecuadas con sombrillas grandes. Así que cuando vayan y esté lloviendo no habrá problema a no ser que caiga un diluvio.

La decoración es bastante agradable, unos cuadros bastante lindos y una pintura que le da ese toque mediterraneo al lugar.

Bebidas 9/10

Vinos de gran calidad aptos para acompañar un almuerzo o una celebración de cumpleaños.

Gran variedad de cervezas en cuanto a marcas

Para las personas que no beban alcohol o vayan en un plan mas familiar, el lugar también ofrece sodas, gaseosas y té.

Lo único que falta a veces es una oferta de jugos naturales.

Este es por lejos uno de mis restaurantes favoritos en Bogotá.
