Disappointing experience. Considering that this restaurant is suppose to be the 17. best restaurant in Latin America !!!
I ordered as starter Carpaccio, which is served with raw sliced salmon, white fish and langostino. Nicely presented - not surprising, nothing new - but a solid dish. But unfortunately both fish were not trimmed properly (greyish borders at the salmon), hence the sudden fishy aftertaste spoiled the experience.
As main the promising and recommended Duck - two way cooked: inside tender and juicy / outside crispy. As recommended I ordered avocado of the grill with herbs.
The duck was crispy outside, but by far too long in the heat. The crispy-ness already dried out the first thick layer of the duck which made it uneatable. From the 10 slices of the duck breast, TWO where still a bit pink inside (and tender and juicy as promised) - all others basically well done to dry. What a pity!
The avocado on the other side - heaven. Slightly blacked from one side, warm from the heat of the BBQ, served already skin off with a perfect herbed salsa. BUT - served in a cold bowl. Hence after 2 min and first two bites, the heat had gone and it turned into an ordinary avocado. Still yummy, but not what you expect from the 17. best restaurant in Latin America !
The avocado should have been served in a hot pan, to keep it hot and smooth. The duck should have never leave the kitchen and be prepared fresh to the point. The raw fish should have been trimmed properly.
Basic craftsmen mistakes and ignorance to details.
Even the yummy backed apple as desert - nobody cared to cut out the stalk before serving. And how should the guest do this, if only provided with a spoon!?
Intention high class, location fantastic - but bad craftsmenship, no attention to detail, no passion in the kitchen.
Complements to the waiters ! They defiantly rescued with there attention an overall...
Read moreOur daughter had made an online reservation from outside Colombia for 7 pm on Friday, Dec. 30 plus sending us a gift card. The reserved table was perfect. We ordered a half bottle of Chianti for my wife and I had a Heineken. For openers we had the Pide Turco (really really good) and the octopus (nowhere as good as one we’d had on a previous “date” a couple of years ago). We had the Salmon (good but not wow) with the patacones verde (liked them a lot) for the two of us to share. The NY Cheesecake for dessert was also very good. The part that was a big let down was paying with the gift card. The tab was about 60% of its value. When the waiter came back to tell us that we would have to consume the remaining amount because there was no way the difference could be applied to a future meal at the restaurant. That to me was unacceptable. I asked to speak with the manager who said that the “system” wouldn’t allow him to debit less than the full amount of the gift card. I mentioned that it didn’t seem appropriate to blame the “system” when his priority should be client satisfaction. After a little back and forth, it occurred to him that he might be able to do something. He stepped away for more than a few minutes and came back with a solution (what I’d call a homemade gift card for the balance) that we accepted. A suggestion for Harry Sasson: on your website include an asterisk stating that gift cards must be consumed in full. My daughter commented that if she’d known we would have this hassle at the end, she would have split the total amount into 3 or...
Read moreDoesn’t live up to the raves and rankings. Location is beautiful, food was fine, ambiance was ok, service was terrible.
Location - the house is a beautiful building and the modern addition is stylish and tasteful. Sadly, that was the best part of the night.
Food - wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t great or even unique. The juices we had were the best. The squid was dull in flavor, the grilled heart of palm was average, yuca rolls were interesting and sauce decent, the duck wasn’t as exciting as an average Peking duck.
Ambiance - music sounded like someone turned on a SiriusXM station. The temperature was stuffy. The furnishings didn’t match the building. It over all felt less than top notch.
Service - by far the worst part. No greeting as we arrived. None as we entered and waited for our reservation. We were taken to the worst table in the house, even though it was late and multiple better ones were vacant, set, and ready for seating. Our server was terrible. He seemed bothered by us. We repeatedly had to ask for water, poured our own drinks, table wasn’t reset between dishes, plates were delivered and moved poorly and at times out of reach. Empty glasses and finished plates were left and asked about awkwardly. When we asked for the check our server said we didn’t eat much of anything tonight. We calmly stated food wasn’t good. He didn’t offer an apology or ask anything.
We didn’t push the issue, called our car, paid the check, and were happy to leave...
