I was excited about coming here, but in the end it turned out to be a very disappointing experience because I got sick (my stomach bleeding).

I was here for dinner on a Thursday night, a night I'd like to treat myself for a good meal so I went alone after work. I was seated at the edge of the bar on a high chair, and ordered a set of 8-dish Omakase. It was a long wait for some of the dishes, and due to not having space to put my legs (I'm not even tall, about 160cm), I started to feel uncomfortable. The space doesn't ventilate well so I began to feel dizzy. I immediately told the clerk in front of me that I wasn't feeling well and was hoping to have my seat change, to at least be able to sit on a cushion chair or somewhere not so high. In the end, they claimed that the place was too full so I had to stay where I was assigned, and there were delays in all my later dishes.

My appetite diminished, and I started to feel even worse, so I went to the bathroom and found my stomach bleeding from the inside. I was completely fine before I entered the restaurant, and this has never happened to me before. I ate normally that day and cooked at home before going there. The dishes continued getting extremely delayed, so I decided to leave without having my later dishes. It was so expensive to pay for the experience and to feel so uncomfortable. This is probably my worst dining experience in Bogotá throughout 4 years. I'm home trying to connect to my doctor. The restaurant gave me a discount and the chef apologized, but something felt very wrong there to still be charged so much for an...

A Culinary Journey Worth Every Bite – One of Bogotá’s Finest

This restaurant has quickly become one of my favorite high-end dining spots in Bogotá—and for good reason. Helmed by an exceptional chef, it’s no surprise this place ranks among the Top 50 Restaurants in South America. Every dish is a thoughtful, creative expression, forming part of a beautifully orchestrated culinary journey.

From the moment you sit down, the experience feels intentional. The bilingual wait staff (English and Spanish) not only explained each dish with enthusiasm and clarity, but the order in which the plates arrived genuinely elevated the experience—building flavors with precision and purpose. The final palate cleanser was the perfect touch: light, refreshing, and satisfying without being heavy.

I’ll admit, the atmosphere can be a little deceiving at first—my wife joked that it looked like I’d brought her to a burger joint for our anniversary. But by the end of the night, we couldn’t stop talking about nearly every course. It was an experience that lingered long after the plates were cleared.

On our second visit, the restaurant was noticeably busier and the pacing of service slower than the first. However, the team was quick to acknowledge it and offered us a complimentary dish, which was a thoughtful gesture that didn’t go unnoticed.

All in all, this place is a gem. While the ambiance may not scream "fine dining" at first glance, the food speaks volumes—and it’s shouting innovation, care, and flavor. Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in Bogotá and want to experience something...

We have never experienced a feast like tonight at Humo Negro.

Coming from a family of foodies, we have been to many wonderful restaurants and often been very happy, but after tonight we are on cloud nine!

The food is of course the most important part of eating out, but the service, atmosphere and how the food is presented have an important role in the experience as well.

We decided to go all in and ordered the Omakase menu, which consisted of 17 small courses. From the first course to the last, we fully expected there to be at least one that wasn’t to our taste, but each one was simply delicious.

Humo Negro not only has master chefs, but artists too. It may seem silly when people take pictures of their food, but as each and every time the presentation was a work of art, we simply could not resist.

The service was amazing; our waiter introduced each course in a way that made us excited about trying them, and he was happy to answer all our questions. He and his coworkers were both friendly and professional.

If you come to Bogotá and do not go to Humo Negro for the Omakase menu, you are missing out on an incredible experience. We count ourselves lucky to have found this place and are still floating...

Humo Negro in Bogotá is a true culinary gem. The concept is brilliant, dishes inspired by different regions of Colombia, each elevated with their own creative twist that leans toward a fusion fine art cuisine. The flavors are outstanding, but what truly sets this place apart is the service. I don’t think we’ve ever experienced such attentive, genuinely warm hospitality in a restaurant. The waitstaff are not only incredibly polite and friendly, but you can see they take immense pride in what they do. Our only regret was not choosing their tasting menu, which guides you through perfectly paired dishes and wines from various Colombian regions. We ordered à la carte, which was still delicious, but watching other tables enjoy the tasting menu made us wish we had taken that journey. The atmosphere is equally memorable, intriguing black decor, well chosen music, and a vibe that feels modern and a bit avantgarde. If you’re in Bogotá, we highly recommend Humo Negro. It’s an experience you won’t regret!

Incredible dining experience! The cocktails were perfectly crafted and expertly recommended to suit our tastes and preferences. The food was absolutely exquisite, and the service was truly top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. I especially loved the use of local ingredients in the omakase tasting menu; the chef's expertise shone through with a masterful blend of Colombian tradition and Japanese flair. Each dish was small, elegant, and a true work of art. The ambiance added to the experience, with the restaurant showcasing unique art from local and international artists. Every detail here is thoughtfully curated. Highly recommend for a special night out!
