La Fragata Giratoria — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

when i first looked this place up, it appeared to me like one of those swanky places that serve you a lone shrimp drizzled sauce and priced at about 100 bux.

not the case! this rotating restaurant (~85 minutes for a full revolution) is located in the world trade center, on the 12th floor. MAKE A RESERVATION!! anyway, we started off with some natural juices, a tangerine juice and 3 limonadas de coco. this was easily the worst part of our meal. the tangerine juice didn't seem fresh, and the same for the lemonades. we got our little croissants, and they were delightful. buttery, but not overwhelming.

we got the ceviche sampler and the salmon and meró carpaccio. they were quite good and the meal started heading in the right direction. as entrees, we had the fragata lobster tails (three tails prepared in three different styles), the shrimp fragata (same deal), the red snapper filet that was broiled, and the blue crab fragata (again, three crabs prepared three different ways). everything was just delicious. the lobster tails were served on a bed of arroz de coco with what seemed like bananas that were brûlée. the red snapper was broiled and had a nice little kick to it, the crabs were all delicious, and the shrimp were great. the only thing that wasn't so wonderful were the patacónes: they were not prepared fresh, as the sogginess was a dead giveaway. they should have been crunchy on the outside and tender inside.

the brownie was a little tasteless.

It's a cool place to be with your family, your friends or your partner, and to celebrate special days or occasions. The design is circular, and has two floors, where the second one has glasses by all the restaurant that let you see all the city, because is continuously spinning very slow. Each turn takes about one hour. The food is delicious, and is a right amount, but it could be little expensive, for about $25 or $30 per person.
