Windsor House: Old-Fashioned Charm with Modern Disappointments
The Windsor House in Bogotá offers a blend of traditional charm and modern amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is a standout feature with a wide variety of options. The hotel is spacious and reasonably priced, and the internet connection is reliable. Windsor House is conveniently located in a safe area where you can walk to many restaurants and local attractions. If you need to move around, it's fairly easy to find transportation.
However, there were several aspects of my stay that were disappointing:
First, the shower water takes an unusually long time -25 minutes- to heat up, which can be inconvenient on chilly Bogotá nights.
Second, the TVs in the rooms are not smart TVs, limiting the available channels.
Third, the rooms have multiple landline phones, which can be surprising and disruptive, especially when receiving unwanted calls.
Fourth, the hotel lacks USB outlets, which is outdated in today's world.
Fifth, despite having a tissue box in the bathroom, there was never any tissue available.
Finally, the most frustrating issue was the daily deactivation of room cards. This required me to visit the front desk every day to reactivate my card, which was time-consuming and inconvenient. While the hotel's reasoning for this policy is understandable, it seems excessive given the number of security staff on-site. I urge the Windsor House to reconsider this policy and explore alternative security measures that do not inconvenience guests.
Overall, while the Windsor House has its strengths, the outdated amenities and inconveniences I encountered left me feeling somewhat disappointed...
Read moreStaff, perfect. If you don't speak Spanish you will have problems. The people here a just geat. The restaurant is amazing. For the money you will never find a place and location like Windsor house. Noise..after the bar opened i woul hear drunks in hallways. Hey its a hotel. The rooms are not quiet. They have no Noise insulation. I stayed 16 days. The suit was a great price. The bed was huge. Here are my issues. Linens. Old towels and only 4. With jacuzzi you need more. Jacuzzi..im a former pool builder. As photos reflect the jets contained filthand bacteria. I don't think they knew how to clean them. You can get staph from dirty warm jacuzzi tubs. Extra bed or couch. Photos speak volumes. No sheets or blankets for it and mattress was gross. I believe you get charged for room service. I guess thats why I had a $400 check out fee. I was a bit shocked. Again to be fair it may have been policy but I don't read or speak Spanish and the speak zero English. To be fair, if they made some room repairs the could charge 4 times the amount I paid. Huge room, incredible staff, amazing location. It just needs a better management, one aware of customer needs and they could quadruple revenue, easily. So, yes 100% recommend. Just know Spanish or a good translator. I would love to fix that place up and make 4 times the return with little investment. I stayed in Jr suite with jacuzzi tub. 2 rooms and huge closets. Living room huge with couch, desk, stereo and dining table for 4. Again for the money 5 star. Rooms just...
Read moreAfter spending a week at hotel ESTELAR Windsor, Bogotá, I feel comfortable in recommending the hotel as a place to stay. The staff are very attentive from Lisa giving me a smile everytime I pass her in the dining area, Geison who keeps me well supplied with coffee to keep me awake and also making sure i get what I need, Leidy who keeps my room nice clean and ordered and in record time too. By the time I step out of my room and back in 30 minutes, she's already cleaned and put away everything. Room looks fresh and ready to go again. Then there's Adriana who's overseeing the operations and always making sure I'm doing ok and enjoying the facilities and service.
The hotel is quite nice and located close to restaurants and shopping if you wish or get the time. The rooms are nice but I didn't like the bed much, a little too firm for me. I did enjoy the shower. I did not enjoy the wifi. The free wifi service offered by the hotel was for the most part tolerable in certian areas of the hotel, thankfully my room was one such place, conference room was not so fortunate. Getting on to the service was EASY and is actually the name of their service. After registration you are given the required information to gain access.
Overall I did enjoy my time in Bogotá and my stay at Hotel ESTELAR Windsor. If you're ever in...
