Abasto was one of the restaurants we continued to see come up as a top restaurant in our searches and we were not disappointed, except maybe for the service.
My girlfriend and I went for brunch. We ordered the .. to start which were like a bit more breaded/fried mozzarella sticks. There were only 3 but they were delicious. Seriously considered ordering another round. They are accompanied by this sweet tomato sauce that really goes well with the type of cheese they use.
For our main course we split the Calentado Abasto and Rancheros. Both were very good but I preferred the Calentado Abasto as it came with a pesto/chimi-churri like sauce that was delicious. Also the Rancheros, although very good, didn't come with any meat (I should have know this as it's clearly stated in the menu). I also had two large 'jugos' (juices) of Granadilla which is supposed to taste like a milder passion fruit. They were both delicious but I thought they tasted more like watermelon than passion fruit.
I would have given this 5 stars but our waitress was not friendly at all. She did NOT want to be there (or maybe she just...
Read moreI had breakfast at this restaurant twice during my stay in Bogotá, so this review is all about their breakfast offerings:
Absolutely delicious, freshly prepared food with a focus on local Colombian cuisine — simply wonderful. Great value for money, too. The atmosphere is lovely, and the neighborhood feels safe and welcoming — everything both visitors and locals could ask for.
I had the “Calentado Abasto” and fell in love with it. The portions are generous, but more importantly, the quality is outstanding. Fresh juices, fresh fruit, and the sourdough bread? So good it could almost be from Germany!
Service is quick, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The seating is comfortable, with enough space between tables to feel relaxed and enjoy a bit of privacy.
If you’re visiting Bogotá, this spot is a must. The neighborhood is not only safe, but also perfect for a stroll...
Read moreWe had breakfast here. They have a variety of eggs and other local delicacies. They also have a wide variety of tropical juices. I had Tamarind juice and another glass of Corozo juice, and both were thick and tasty. To start, we ordered carimañolas, which are baked/fried small rolls of tapioca flour with cheese, and they were excellent. I had the eggs with cheese and bail served in a clay pot/cazuela, and although they were ok, they were too cheesy for me. My friend had oatmeal pancakes. However, here they don't come with syrup, so you have to ask for honey. I liked the presentation of the food and the place and want to go back to taste other things. I went back and had lunch on my next visit. I had artichoke hearts and baked trout, although it was a bit dry. I liked it but wouldn't...
