Lachoco Latera Chocolatería — Restaurant in Bogota, Capital District

A friend from Bogota recommended this place for chocolates to bring as a gift. She is my guardian angel. It is a small place with a small, but interesting, selection of beautiful and delicious chocolates.

On that visit, I didn't have time to try any of the cafe selections, but noted items I knew my daughter would like, so we returned a few days later. Service was excellent, despite the very limited English of the staff (and my very limited Spanish.) It is a very warm and welcoming place. We returned three more times over the next 10 days.

Hits for us: "normal," ginger, and espresso hit chocolates. The latter is almost like a hot chocolate pudding. Chicken empanadas and grilled cheese. My daughter liked the tamales. I did not, but that is a personal matter of not caring for tamales made with banana(?) leaves. The chocolate volcano cake is the best I've ever had, and the chocolate grilled cheese is fabulous.

This place is amazing. It's a place to take a good conversation with a friend! The restaurant is really comfortable and keep a good temperature in bad days! I love to visit La Chocolateria when the weather is really bad, because they offer an excellent hot chocolate and a fresh bread that don't let you feel cold on you and your heart. Besides, they sell a really sweet chocolate, you should take care if you don't use to eat a lot of sweet. The service is very...
