Me and my mates had a fantastic experience here, where we’ve never felt more welcome, relaxed and well treated.
The owner, which i’ve unfortunately forgotten the name of (sorry!) was super nice and engaged with us throughout our meal. His wife was also super nice and their food was just stunning.
They offer free additional rice and rotti portions which was a really nice touch and also were willing to split the portions or add on extra pieces to allow us to try it all and share fairly (as there was three of us).
The layout and vision was really cool and although we went at lunch so there were not many tables there, the vibes and atmosphere were a mix between your cool aunties living room and a high end restaurant.
In terms of reccomendations, we really liked the paneer curry and the lamb special, they were just gorgeous. We also had the somosa to start and couldnt reccomend them enough.
All in we spent about 6000/7000 pesos each, ehixh included 4 curries, all the rice and roti we could want, 2 beers EACH and a big portion or somosa. Fantastic value if you ask me, for everything that you get!
This family run place is one of the very few places that you feel at home and thoroughly enjoy both the food and intimacy from the owners.
I’m sure i’ll be here again, and rumor has it there will be a rooftop terrace opening soon so i cant stress enough to get yourself...
Read moreBang average, but at not bang average prices. And I am writing this review keeping in mind it’s Indian food in Colombia.
From a food perspective, in a country with great meat, dairy & veg, I’m not sure why it was so mediocre. Simba has 2 pots on the go, and you choose which one you’d like. When we dined there, there was butter chicken & goat. The chicken was “ready” when we arrived, the goat 30 mins off (apparently cooked for 3 hours? Doubtful…). The goat was ok I guess (70k-ish) - meat of average quality and curry basic but palatable. The chicken (40k-ish) curry was broken, as in boiled too hard/long and nothing resembling a butter chicken. Both just so incredibly average, lacking any kind of depth or complexity. If you’ve ever had a curry before anywhere in the world, I’d give this place a pass.
From a service perspective, Simba was attentive, to be fair, and spoke great English (and gave me the opportunity to complain in person by checking in, which I didn’t but should have taken). Both him & his wife seemed much too busy for a restaurant with 3 tables dining in & curries supposedly already boiling away.
Honestly, I could have made better curries with ingredients found here. I’m not sure why this has such a good rating - perhaps it depends on what...
Read moreBefore I say this. The owner is a fellow Brit and Asian. So i know indian food like the back of my hand. Even though the compliments he served me was OK but nothing special. The main chicken dish was disgusting and not fresh. The dish looked like soup. It had too much gravy.. There was bits of chicken in it. And I was wondering where the chicken was. Was I eating a soup or a curry. What made it worse, the chicken which was in there, was bits of already made chicken tikka lol. . He talks alot but it's rubbish. If he had no chicken, why not tell me 🤔. How he is getting good reviews, I really don't know. Be careful!... Update.... Now you are, trying to turn in to a race and religious thing 🤣.. Seriously, you know you are scamming people. The chicken dish had soo much sugar in it, it could of been a desert 🤣. Majority are either Colombians or americans who have no idea about indian food. People, we do not put sugar in dishes.! And since when was price an issue. Your are the one who...
