Antigua Contemporánea — Restaurant in Cali

I was in Cali for the day and lucky to sneak in for dinner. From start to finish, the experience was wonderful. The service was impeccable - attentive without being intrusive, and the setting feels like a Colombian secret garden.

I started with a Glenlivet old fashioned and a burrata and shrimp appetizer upon the recommendation of my server. The appetizer was delicious - the burrata and shrimp were cooked in a lightly herbed sun-dried tomato sauce.

For my entree, I chose another recommendation - the seabass with roasted vegetables. The seabass was cooked perfectly flakey.

Service and restaurant atmosphere are a definite plus. Very charming, romantic decor, with courteous and attentive service. I had the tuna tartare, which was fair but not great. The mixture of green apple bits added a crunchy sweet taste when the other ingredients melted in my mouth. The Salmon de la casa was nice but a tad overcooked in my opinion. The oignons were well braised and tasty. The puree is sweet plantains. Some people love it.. Between the oignons and puree, I think the salmon was overwhelmed by the sweetness. The food was delicious and the service was fine, nothing extraordinary but acceptable. However, when it came to paying, the card machine failed and my card was charged twice, while no receipt was printed. What upset me most was not only the double charge but also the lack of proper follow-up. I had to contact them several times, and it took almost a week to resolve the issue — it would have taken even longer if I hadn’t insisted.
