Mexcal Taqueria — Restaurant in Cartagena

Had high hopes based on all the good reviews. We were seated promptly, and ordered drinks. I asked for a margarita with no salt rim (and the server spoke perfect English, so it wasn’t a language issue). Margarita served with a salt rim. I tried to wipe it off but the server noticed and gave me a new glass. We ordered the guacamole and chips. The guacamole was as advertised, mashed avocado with some chopped onion and cilantro on top. Totally bland. Didn’t even taste any lime juice. My friend didn’t get her pina colada for 10 minutes after my margarita arrived, and she says it is watery. No one came to take our food order so we had to flag someone down. I ordered the shrimp tostadas you get three they were served to me and we waited another 10 minutes before my friend got her beef tacos. The tostadas and tacos were ok, not great. Something was dripping on my head so I moved. We decided we to cut our losses and not order anything else....

Live music was amazing! The service was dancing, almost had the birthday girl start dancing. My taste buds were definitely dancing. Ribeye steak was seasoned so well. The vegetables had that POP you desire as soon as your teeth touch it. Mariana and Irvin were tricky, they came out with a spectacular warmed brownie and ice cream with a sparkler for the bday girl, but not before they had the band blast on that Bday song. This is definitely a place to eat...

This place was such a vibe! First let’s talk about the aesthetics… this restaurant was so beautiful. It gives a grown and sexy atmosphere. Definitely a great spot for a romantic date or a night out with friends. The service was impeccable! The entire staff was so attentive with our needs. The food was noted. I ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection! (Medium). The rest of my group also enjoy their food! I highly recommend this restaurant!
