Great dinner at La Mulata! Stopped in for dinner after a long day touring the walled city. Little bit of a hole in the wall but incredible value! Like many locations in the city, you don’t get the full picture entering the restaurant. We came in right behind a large party and a couple and thought for sure we’d have to wait but the restaurant goes further back into the building several rooms to even more dining space so we were sat immediately. No kids menu but my two girls shared a grilled chicken with rice, avocado and patacones. Their plate was delish! My wife and I tried the ceviche mixto and arroz marisco. Both delish! Especially the ceviche. This is coming from a non seafood eater too. We also ordered the limonada coco which is totally unique and soo refreshing. A tamarind juice, corozco(blueberry) and a shot of aguardiente and we were set. Food came out reasonably quick, they did serve us bread and butter before the meal as well. Good sized portions and a delish taste, friendly service all made for a great experience. I would gladly go back. Outstanding value in a touristy city.

We have been looking for a dinner spot just like this during our entire stay in Caratgena! Not only was the ambiance cozy, relaxing, and beautiful, but there was also a live sax musician performing for us in the main dining room. We were pleasantly surprised by the good prices as well as delicious and beautifully presented food. The fresh fish was buttery and I especially loved their coconut rice! They also gave us plantain chips, on the house, to start. The service here was also very pleasant, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, if you are looking for a chill spot for dinner in the old town that is friendly and reasonably priced, you will find that here. The restaurant is also a lot bigger than you'd expect, making this ideal for large groups. Would recommend this restaurant if you want a more casual yet romantic date night. We spent 143 thousand COP, including tip, for 2 cocktails and 2 entrees.

We first heard of La Mulata from another couple during an excursion. After seeing the great online reviews, we decided to dine there on our last night in Cartagena. It was a great choice! The restaurant sits in the heart of the walled city and is easily accessible by foot. The decor is catchy and the table layout allows for a cozy experience for dinners. Moving on to the food, this was definitely some of the tastiest food that we had on this trip. They served traditional regional dishes with great flavor. Our favorite was hands down the Posta Negra Cartagenera, which is meat slowly cooked cooked to a fall off the bone delicious delicacy. The food was definitely worth the bang for your buck. We at the Zasón Guide definitely recommend visiting if you are near the area. Extraordinary: Smell, Taste ÇÇ

Everyone raved so much about it and google reviews are so good, we had to go. Nice decor and cool AC, good start. Free fish soup as a starter which was amazing. Watch out for bones. We had a cazuela for 40k and omg, it’s the worst I have had on this trip (I tried 6-7 until now).. it’s super salty and it’s like salted water with coconut. The portions are generally very small (for me to say that is hard since I usually never finish my meal). We were talked into those filets and they were super below average for 35k. Limonada natural did not taste natural. The invoice comes with tip included. And lastly: my partner got tummy ache right after having the cazuela.

The free fried plantains with the lime cream was yummy. However, that was the end of the pros. Food took forever to arrive (others also made the same comment and slow service is common in Cartagena). I didn't find the food very tasty. Actually thought it was bland. I had the octopus. Was chewy/mushy and I couldn't taste much seasoning. Paying took forever - they took our money and we waited and waited and waited for our change. After finally getting our change, the security guard chased us and asked for tips. Maybe we just came on an off night based on all the positive reviews but for us it was disappointing.
