Being Asian and from Vancouver, where the food is top notch - I came with low expectations. Even with the high reviews, I was skeptical. And overall it was fine.

My partner was craving Asian food so I joined him.

Food is subjective. If you’ve not had authentic Japanese, Chinese, Korean flavours before - or are exposed frequently, I can see how you can appreciate this. Overall, it was just ok (for me), but for someone else it might be great. If they advertised this as Asian-American fusion, it might be more aligned.

We ordered a range of dishes, seafood and vegetable tempura, Korean fried chicken, miso maguro and chashu ramen.

Tempura (6 pieces) for seafood you had a piece of tuna, salmon and shrimp. The batter was more panko coating (think shake and bake, than traditional tempura batter) and the tempura sauce isn’t tempura sauce you’d normally get. the tuna piece was quite thin, my partner mistook it for chicken skin. the vege were 3 thin strips (think julienne) of broccoli, carrot and yam?

Korean fried chicken was well fried, but heavily relied on salt for its flavour and was over seasoned.

Chashu ramen had a good broth and was promising, the chashu was well smoked, but the noodles were lacking in sustenance. Vege were shredded carrots and a few pieces of shiitake.

The miso maguro was good. But I think it was because it was so far off typical Asian that it was new. Again. If they advertise it as Asian American fusion that might be a better bet.

Foods not bad. But if you really want legit Asian flavours. This isn’t gonna be it.

Amazing service! We were in a pickle with a different Airbnb where their wifi was at 4Mb/s speed from dialup connection. 🤦🏻‍♀️ (La Martinera) We work from home and non existent “wifi” wasn’t going to work. We needed to move into a new spot early the next morning. This amazing company Koi and their staff offered us a space and cooked us an amazing (off the menu) American style breakfast with fresh crunchy bread (best I’ve had in Colombia) eggs, bacon, avocado, fresh bowl of fruit. Fresh squeezed orange juice and hot coffee. 🤤 The staff came in early the next morning, 8am to cook us breakfast as we all work remotely. I would come back for their breakfast but this was a grand gesture of kindness to accommodate us. Beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious! It felt like we were home. So impressed by their services and kindness! 🥰 Their wifi speeds were 49Mb/s! Much better!! We will be back to order dinner from their...

Vaya sorpresa encontramos en esta nueva oportunidad que visitamos Guatape. Un pequeño pero muy acogedor restaurante, de pocas mesas, pero que le sobran muchos otros argumentos para con los amantes de los sabores asiáticos y que esten dispuestos a darle una visita y oportunidad a este lugar. Al entrar se darán cuenta que el pequeño espacio lo comparte el área de mesas y la cocina al fondo, visible para todo aquel que desee contemplar a sus cocineros elaborar sus platos. Esto le da al lugar un ambiente muy personal y acogedor en mi opinión. Redorzado por una atención esmerada por parte de sus meseras que además conocen muy bien la carta y están dispuestas a asesorarte de la mejor manera con muy buena actitud. Para ser totalmente honestos con los que me lean, teníamos muy pocas expectativas de un restaurante especializado en comida asiática por estos lares. Sin embargo, luego de recorrer varios por la zona, este fue el que nos atrajo más. Decidimos darle una oportunidad y pedir de primero algo sencillo para darnos una idea de la calidad y talento del lugar y si no nos gustaba pagar y salir. Empezamos con unos rollitos primavera de langostinos. Estos nos dio un primer indicio de que el equipo de cocina estaban muy entendidos en el tema de comida asiática. Fritura super crujiente, langostinos jugosos y el aderezo picante dulce espectacular. Lo que nos hizo compartir un Chow Mein especial de la casa como segundo plato. Pollo y cerdo increíblemente aderezados y vegetales de intenso sabor, se noto la frescura de los ingredientes. ¡Delicioso! Lo que nos convencio de ordenar sushi para realmente probar la calidad del restaurante. Rey dragon fue el elegido con con tempura de langostino picante y caviar negro. La presentación fue sencillamente hermosa con un dragón dibujado en salsa en el plato y de un sabor extraordinario. Finalmente para cerrar la velada elegimos probar sus helados artesanales de sesamo negro, jengibre con caramelo y pistacho que dejaron un grato recuerdo en nuestro paladar. Al dejar el restaurant debi acercarme hacia la cocina para felicitar al chef y equipo por su trabajo y pedirles que continuaran así o mejor, pues asegure volver en otra oportunidad. Para terminar mi reseña y si ya leiste hasta aquí, son contados con los dedos de una mano buenos restaurantes asiáticos en la ciudad de Medellín y habernos topado a Oki restaurante en Guatape ha siso todo un hallazgo que espero se mantenga por mucho tiempo.
