Don Oscar — Restaurant in Guatapé

El día de la visita fue el 3 de Abril, para los 15 años de mi hija. Debo decir varias cosas sobre el lugar y las personas: Estuve en contacto con la anfitriona Yurley vía whatsapp 1 semana antes de ir para hacer la reservación. En todo momento fue muy atenta y me dijo que no me preocupara para hacer la decoración que ellos se encargaban de todo. El día antes fui para asegurar el rincón donde íbamos a reservar, sin problema alguno, el personal fue siempre muy cordial, atento y amable. La chica que nos atendió: LUISA fue maravillosa, hizo de nuestra experiencia la mejor, organizó todo para que nos sintiéramos a gusto, la música, fotos, las recomendaciones de comida y bebidas, el trato más cordial, cariñoso y caluroso posible, quiero extender principalmente mis felicitaciones a esta chica, de verdad que mi familia, en especial mi hija y yo quedamos muy agradecidas con ella. Esperamos volverla a ver cuando regresemos.

Comida: Todo estaba exquisito, una presentación impecable con sabores extraordinarios. Costos totalmente acordes con lo que se pide, hay platos y bebidas para todos los presupuestos.

Lugar: Ambiente muy ameno, tiene varios sitios con variaciones en el tono y color de luz para todo tipo de ocasión, un mural esplendido donde se puede (y así lo hicimos) usar como mini pista de baile.

Food: Everything was exquisite, impeccable presentation with extraordinary flavors. Costs totally in line with what is requested, there are dishes and drinks for all budgets.

Place: Very pleasant atmosphere, it has several places with variations in the tone and color of light for all kinds of occasions, a splendid mural where it can be (and we did) use it as a little dance...

We had an amazing lunch today at Don Oscar’s Steak House in Guatape (Medellin)! From the moment we arrived, everything was on point. Our waiter Larry was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He even offered great recommendations that made it sooo much easier for me as a women to decide what to eat (lol). He was attentive the entire time without ever being overbearing. We also ordered the red sangria and it was delicious! The presentation was beautiful with lots of fresh fruit, and it tasted as good as it looked. The restaurant itself was very clean, and we loved the amazing view of the reservoir, whether you choose to sit inside or outside. This was recommended twice by local contact, but unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations.

We ordered the New York steak at medium rare, but when it arrived, it was closer to well done. We asked them to replace the steak but it was still not much better.

The don oscar tipicos was much better - it was a traditional "bandeja paisa" - rich dish including beans, rice, fried ripe plantain, avocado, corn cake (arepa), ground beef, sausage (chorizo), fried pork belly, black pudding and fries egg.

The egg was a bit burnt, but on the bright side the dish was very big and could almost feed two people with one serving.
