The atmosphere is a vibe. The food is good. The coffee is just okay. The service kinda sucks lol What I will say is that it's a popular place for digital nomads and there's a lot of hotties here at any given time of day. I think the pleasing aesthetic brings in more expats and foreigners. If you're looking for a digital cutie- it's a good place to shop. Also, strangely enough every single staff member is a 10/10. They must only hiring good looking people here bc that cannot be a coincidence. With that though, only the female employees offer decent service. And there's only two of them. The men are just there for decoration or something because they're basically useless. Forgetting orders, bringing the wrong items to your table, duplicating things on your receipt, catching a princess attitude because they have to get your napkins or a straw for your drink. Very prissy, very childlike, very annoying. The head server is a woman and she's like the babysitter of all the pretty little boys. I hope she gets paid more than everyone else bc that's just cringe to see a grown man get mad at you and call over Mommy Waitress because he brought you someone else drink and your won't drink it 🤦🏽‍♀️ but hey, it's Culture 🤷🏽‍♀️

If you were not paying attention, you might walk right past this fantastic coffee shop/restaurant/hipster joint, and that would be sad as it's worth multiple visits. We visited Café Dragón on our first day in Medellin when we needed an afternoon cafécito to take a load off from a long day. The coffee was delicious and inspired us to give up on adding almond milk to our coffee entirely (two weeks later, we are still drinking our coffee black). There are a couple of small tables outside off the sidewalk, a small dark area at the entrance, and a comfy-looking lounge (which was never open when we were there but looks cool). Regardless, the main room is where you want to be with its retractable accordion roof, lush plants, side garden views, and a stage with a DJ booth. The vibe is fashionable without trying, diverse without noticing and hopping without advertising. From what we can tell, this is where the creative types and the artists have meetings and chats. The food is fresh but straightforward, and it is almost an afterthought of how cool you will look just sitting here. The fresh juices are lovely; if you are so inclined, they will add something from the bar at any time of the day.

This is a beautiful place but is absurdly overpriced. The price-quality ratio is terrible. The pizza I had was okay, but not exceptional. It was small and too expensive for what it was, especially when compared to the pizzas at Zorba, not far away. Additionally, if a cafe wants to charge European prices in Medellin, they should offer European-quality service. Although the servers were friendly, they were clueless about the food they serve. They were unable to provide the minimum information about the ingredients of the dishes and were ignorant about the most basic things, to the point they didn't even know what basil was. On top of that, they refuse water, even with espressos! Such a level of stinginess when the prices are so ridiculously high is insulting to customers. There are plenty of other great places where to have breakfast, food, and coffee in the area, at more reasonable prices in the context of Medellin.

As you can see from the reviews, this place is a hit or miss. The atmosphere is a 5, the service a 2, and this place is indeed overpriced, at least I can speak for the breakfast. You’ll pay 45k cop for French toast-literally one piece of toast with crème and sugar and blueberries on top, and they’ll call it gourmet.

What happens if you don’t like your food, as what happened with the smoked trout bagel that I ordered; they refused to refund us. The manager also argued with me about what is a bagel. What they gave me was a glorified hamburger bun. Sorry dude, that’s not a bagel. Bagels are not hamburger buns, and it’s a different process in preparation. Anyway, the chimichurri sauce didn’t pair well with the smoked trout. It needs another accompanying sauce, possibly something creamier. I encourage them to try again with this dish. In the end, we pleaded and had a hard confrontation with the manager.

This could have been a completely different experience if they had customer service etiquette in handling this situation. Unfortunately, that’s a current theme they are lacking and it’s evident in the reviews.

So I encourage this restaurant to consider two things before their reviews take them under a 4, in which then they’ll just be another overpriced mediocre Medellin restaurant according to Google.

Improve your customer service- restaurant and staff need training, especially the managers. Communication and leaving the client content should be priority.

Offer refunds or real solutions to people who really don’t like the plate they ordered. People shouldn’t ever pay for what they don’t eat and what they send back. It’s not a cafeteria.

Good luck!...
