A Hidden Gem in Medellín’s Culinary Scene
My first time at Cannario, and I can already say it won’t be the last. With so many dining options in Medellín, this place stands out as a true gem, a solid 10/10.
From the moment you walk in, the team welcomes you with open arms. And if you’re lucky, your waiter will be Jerónimo, an absolute star. He knows every recipe by heart and will craft a tasting experience tailored to your personal preferences like a true pro.
Now, for the must-try dishes: • Starter: the octopus tacos. Don’t even think about it — just order them. You’ll thank me later. • Main course: the truffle rice. Rich, fragrant, and they don’t hold back on the truffle. Pure Mediterranean bliss. If you’re like me and need a bit of protein, ask for an addition of medium-rare tenderloin — it turns a great dish into the best on the menu. • Dessert: the Miloja with golden dust. Elegant, refined, and perfectly balanced — not overly sweet.
And the signature cocktails? They deserve a whole separate review. A couple of standouts: • The Wiskinder Sold Fashion, a creative take on an Old Fashioned with Kinder chocolate notes and Nahi Rare Chocolate bitters — genius. • The Black Canario, a citrusy, aromatic punch made with Mil Amores mezcal that hits all the right notes.
No doubt about it — my new favorite rooftop in Medellín. Already counting the days...
Read moreWe first went July 4, 2024 with our two kids, and family members. Spent over $400.00 we came from a busy day in Comuna 13, and were in shorts and tshirts. However July 6, 2024 after coming from another busy day we decided to order room service in Blues Suites from the restaurant but after 1 hour they did not confirm our order so we decided to go to the restaurant which is on the 5th floor of the hotel, and Maria Antonia told us we weren’t allow because we had bermudas (short casual pants), that we weren’t allowed. We explain to the Supervisor (Alex) that we have been consuming since July 3rd 2024 (day we arrived) and more than $400.00 each time and that we believed that the restaurant should have provided options, instead of literally throwing us out of the restaurant. The Supervisor told us that he saw us the 3rd and 4th but decided not to tell us nothing regarding our shorts, but today those were the rules. However short dresses were bottoms literally are visible we’re allowed. This is the only restaurant in the hotel, we believe if you have family such as kids 1years old and 3 like me and the policies are to strong just for certain occasions with no other options and simply having management with no customer service skills is very unsatisfying. Unfortunately, we will not be recommending families this restaurant. The supervisor has 0 in treating...
Read moreThe atmosphere at this restaurant is truly exceptional, absolutely beautiful in every detail.
The space is stunning, with large, stylish tables that make the dining experience feel both comfortable and elegant.
Every waiter who assisted us was extremely polite, professional, and genuinely kind.
Their attentive and friendly service made us feel very welcome throughout the evening.
The food was extremely delicious and clearly prepared with care and high-quality ingredients.
I would absolutely return here 🙏
One suggestion for improvement would be to lower the volume of the DJ’s music.
While the music itself was enjoyable, it was sometimes difficult to hold a conversation, especially with such spacious tables.
Lowering the music a bit would make the environment even more enjoyable for everyone.
Another point worth mentioning: when it came time to pay, we noticed that staff did not ask whether we wanted to add the service charge (propina).
We would have happily added it, but it’s best practice for staff to ask if you’d like to include the service, rather than automatically assuming it or waiting for the customer to mention it.
This approach is both courteous and correct - at least from my point of view 🙏
Despite these small details, the environment was truly fantastic, and I look forward to...
