OUR ROOM WAS ROBBED AT THIS HOTEL OVER $6500 OF STOLEN GOODS. THE OWNERS OFFERED US NOTHING ASIDE FROM A ROOM REIMBURSEMENT (much less) AND EVEN THREATENED TO SUE US IF WE POSTED THIS REVIEW Nobody should give these family owners their money, they are terrible people. Basically this is what happened: The hotel is two houses, one on each side of the street. There is one overnight security person at the main house but nobody at the 2nd house. We assumed that was simply because it was safe. But that was clearly a wrong assumption. Based on what follows I would assume it’s because the owners are cheap. The only night we happened to be the only guests in the 2nd house, while we were out to dinner our room was robbed. With the help of the police we understood that the thief had climbed a border wall that had no barbed wire on it (the police pointed out this wasn’t safe), broke our bathroom window (glass was not the safer glass used on the window doors) and ransacked our room. They stole a laptop, 2 iPads, all chargers, sunglasses, cash, my passport and multiple credit cards. They went through everything and stole everything of value, as nobody was in the house they had all the time in the world, no security person, no security system. We also found out, by asking the owners, that the same house had been robbed in January the same way, and yet they did nothing to improve the security. Ok, so far pretty bad, but the worst is yet to come: the behavior of the owners themselves. When we spoke to the owners they asked how they could help and we said they could help by reimbursing for our stolen items. They said they were also the victims in this situation and got rude and said “absolutely not, that’s an unreasonable request”. I don’t think it’s unreasonable at all, they weren’t even willing to offer a portion of the cost, only a room reimbursement which was $1200. After a long argument that clearly wasn’t going anywhere, we then said before we go that we needed the footage from the security cameras and to take photos of the wall for the police report (the police asked us to bring these) and they said no they would not provide them. Then they told the entire staff not to let us take pictures of anything or even visit the 2nd house again. I then told them that this behavior was unacceptable and that we would make sure this would appear in all the reviews. They said we were threatening them and that was illegal in Colombia (which it is not) and that if we posted a review of this they would sue us. They were going to sue the people who got robbed in their hotel!? To add to the craziness, the room they moved us to had a non functioning safe and it took them 48 hours to fix it after we complained to them about it. Clearly no concern for security! Eventually the owners messaged us and said they wanted us to meet with their lawyer (not them as they were in France where they’re from). So we immediately got a lawyer of our own and went to the meeting. They offered to reimburse $1200, which was nothing compared to the value and time lost. It’s also nothing compared to what they charge, as $1200 is the cost of a one week stay at this hotel, one of the most expensive in Medellín. We refused the offer and walked out, and the lawyer again threatened to sue us if we post this review. Not only have we lost the over $6500 but have spent 2 entire days of our trip dealing with police visits, credit card cancellations, embassy reports, wiring money to western union and buying a new laptop and items and setting up this laptop as my husband has to work while on this trip. I honestly cannot believe this parallel universe I am currently living in where the owners of the hotel whose security lapse caused us to get robbed not only aren’t compensating us but are threatening to sue us. But don’t listen to me, if you read the reviews carefully, you’ll see that while the place is beautiful and generally functions well, every time there is a problem, the owners don’t do anything to fix it.

Medellin is a vibrant (and sometimes steep!) city nestled in the Andes. The B&B we found to book - Patio del Mundo - we all agreed is likely the best hospitality experience any of us have ever had anywhere! It’s stylish, beautifully modern, impeccably kept and always felt relaxing and welcoming. The staff were amazing and genuine. Eric was our host for a 4 day stay and could not possibly get a better recommendation - always kind, attentive and took care of any language barrier or logistical challenges we encountered with a friendly ease. The room we chose was just off the main (beautiful) indoor/outdoor area but once inside it’s like your own private retreat hidden in lush foliage. It’s quiet. No street sounds, no sirens in the distance, nothing but nature sounds. A hidden deck with a fantastic hammock and really cool comfortable chairs. Yet a very short walk away the Pablado district is vibrant and full of really great restaurants and shops. Medellin is known as the city of eternal spring. One of the best getaways ever. I highly recommend Patio del Mundo!

The best hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip around Colombia and Peru. Agnes makes you feel at home in her beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated and spacious and the private terrace with a hammock was a lovely touch. The communal area and garden are perfect and make you feel like you're staying anywhere but the middle of a city. Location is ideal, within minutes walking distance to trendy El Poblado where the best restaurants and bars in the city can be found. Ubers were easy to get from the hotel as well. The 24 hot tub at the bottom of the garden is a lovely touch and the staff (including her dog!) were wonderful as well. Really one of the best places I've stayed in anywhere in the world. Only issue worth considering is the lack of air conditioning but the fans in the room solved that problem.

This B&B has a lovely lounge and a very nice patio. The breakfast is very good. However the room we stayed in was damp with mildew on the walls. The fridge was Very noisy and we had to switch it off. We Explained this to the young woman who was in charge but nothing was done We therefore did not have a working fridge in our room The toilet made a hell of a racket and again we explained this but nothing was done! the Requirement to put toilet paper ( used) in a waste paper basket is simply part of the Issue in South America, but to provide a basket with no lid was really too much! Generally speaking the rooms are shabby They clearly require updating and some significant investment! We met somebody who we think was the owner But he never introduced himself or explained his role! They leave the running of this place to very young women who really don't have very much idea and seem to be shy of accepting that they are supposed to be there to meet the guests needs. We were told that if we wanted anything we should just ask. However the reception was never occupied and there was no intercom to contact anyone. Generally speaking we were unhappy with staying there and were...
