GATO-RESTO BAR — Restaurant in Medellín

First time in Medellin and this restaurant was highly recommended by a close friend of mine therefore we were enthusiastically looking forward to this gastronomical experience. Let’s just say the experience was null and disappointing. We arrived at the restaurant and everything was going well. My husband and I waited over 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence. No one came. The waiters were busy indeed…busy laughing and talking to others while we waited for someone to take an order. My husband gained the hostess’ attention after the prolonged wait and it was clear that we were a nuisance to her. The attitude, lacking poor customer service, shame on her and those that hired this girl. We ended up at a different restaurant and it was phenomenal. The Venezuelan waiter exceeded our expectations and his above average customer service exemplary. You might want him to give your hostess an in-service on what proper and adequate customer service. We will ensure we let all of our family and friends know from the US know not to visit...

Had a really bad experience. I ordered Lomo Saltado, basically beef cooked wok style with fries and rice - one of the more premium dishes that they offer. The plate arrives after a very long wait and both beef and fries were cold. When I pointed that out to the waiter, they did not even apologized but rather just grabbed the plate and left for the kitchen. He came back 2 min later with the plate warmed up, most likely in a microwave as the meet became very dry and stiff, while the fries became extremely soft. The waiter then just left the plate on the table, again without saying a single word and walked away. It is very disappointing to see and receive such a disservice and a pity that they were not even trying to apologize or making things right - it’s ok to make mistakes but ignoring them and being rude is really not acceptable -...

Deseo que pudiera decir algo positivo sobre El Gato Resto Bar ya que eso fue la ultima parada en Colombia. No obstante, tuve la peor experiencia de cualquier restaurante que visité en mi viaje. Trabajaba como mesero para dos años, así que entiendo que el trabajo puede ser difícil, y me gusta darle a la gente la beneficia de la duda. Eso dicho, evitaría este restaurante si fuera tu.

Fui aquí para bebidas después de la cena. La primera bebida que pedí, la margarita de lulo, fue dulce, pero buena. No quería beber otra bebida dulce. Por eso, pedí una margarita normal, la cual mi amigo había pedido y dicho que no fue demasiado dulce. Pues, no fue que la margarita fue muy dulce, pero fue mala, y bebo margaritas todo el tiempo. Después de probarla con una muestra pequeñita, la pasé a mi esposa, quien confirmó que si fue mala. Porque está bebida iba a ser mi final bebida de la noche, entendí esta situación como una señal que no debería pedir otra.

Cuando el mesero vino a nuestra mesa, tal vez quince minutos más tarde, le mencioné a el que no me gustó la margarita y le pedí que la bebida fue sacada de la cuenta. Me dijo que no podía quitarla. Le repetí a el mi deseo (quedó 90%) y el me dijo que hablaría con su gerente. El gerente nunca vino por la mesa y el mesero nunca me dijo que pasaba con la margarita.

Más tarde, cuando recibimos la cuenta, la margarita todavía estuvo allí, y por eso le pedí a quitarla otra vez. El me respondió en una manera enojado que no podía hacerlo. Esta vez, trajo su gerente, quien estuvo de acuerdo con el mesero, diciendo que duró demasiado tiempo antes que dije a el mesero que no me gustó la bebida, y por esta razón, no podían quitarla de la cuenta. También dijeron que si no pagué para la margarita, el mesero tendría que comprarla, cual no puedo creer. Nunca he enviado una bebida o comida a la cocina en Colombia, y solo lo he hecho una vez en mi vida, pero me senté al lado de una cliente en otro restaurante en Medellín quien no le gustó su bistec, y cuando ella levantó la cuestión al gerente, le trajo a ella un bistec nuevo sin hacer un argumento.

Al final, el mesero y gerente no quitaron la margarita de la cuenta y la compré. Habría sido mucho menos complicado terminar la noche después de cenar en lugar de poner un pie en El Gato Resto Bar. El mensaje es este - evita este bar si quieres una margarita buena o tienes la expectación de ser tratado bueno si no te gusta tu bebida o comida. Y disfruta Medellín.
