My friend found this place based on its amazing reviews, and boy were we in for a treat!

Let me start by saying that we are not vegetarian or vegan, but we love good food, which was abundant at Ginger Cocina. It’s clear that this menu and space were created with love. We started with two Cerveza Artesanal Medellín Red Ales (at the recommendation of the restaurant owner) and shared the Cauliflower Boa as an appetizer. Wow! The flavors of the Cauliflower Boa were bold and balanced, and the beer was a perfect pair. I then tried the Fungi Ramen and it was one of the best ramen broths I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve eaten ramen in Japan). My friend had The Bowl and scooped out every last bit of quinoa, savoring very bite. At the end of our meal, we tried the Hibiscus and Chai kombuchas for after dinner drinks and loved that the brand was local and the owner was very knowledgeable about the product. Great kombucha!

Food gets 10/10.

The restaurant was cozy, clean, open, and welcoming. It was simple, modern, and worked well to showcase the excellent food. The space was small and might not work for larger groups but it was perfect for parties of 2 - 4 people.

Ambiance gets 9/10.

So incredible food in a comfortable fresh space, what more could you want?

Well, on top of this, the restaurant is actually owned and operated by a dynamic couple. He is in the kitchen cooking and she is in the front taking care of all the customers’ needs. The two work so well together. It’s clear that this is a passion project that they are building together in Medellín. Hospitality is very important to me and this dynamic duo really hit a home run here.

Hospitality/Service gets 10/10.

Overall this is my favorite restaurant I’ve been to in my time in Medellín and if you’ve read this far, well, go give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. See you again very soon,...

This place is magic.

I arrived here just before a heavy rainfall and scored a table on the patio. Ordered myself a bowl of the vegetable ramen (sublime, rich, hearty, suave, lots of flavors and consistencies) that was accompanied by an extra serving of the papas (well-spiced, incredible crunchy-yet-soft texture and great mayo to go along with it). I was able to eat this delicious meal while watching the city get soaked in rain. When the meal was over and the rain was still pouring, I took this as a sign to order dessert as well. The cookie crumble with fruits (depicted in the video) came in a little bowl and the advice from the waitress to go deep inside the bowl with the spoon to get a bit from all layers. Each spoonful came with loads of different textures, the taste was on a less sweet side (which I totally appreciate!) and very pleasant overall.

With all these fanfares about the food, let's not forget the service. The waitress was friendly and attentive. She was very keen on explaining things to me and made sure I was taken care off. I only directly interacted with the waitress, but the chef seemed pretty chill too. I think they both make this place whole.

If I had to complain about one thing, then it's that the tea is just brewed through little steeping bags. This miniscule complaint holds no weight against everything that was done right here tho, so, in my eyes this is truly a five star place.

I think I made a new core memory here....

A Hidden Gem in Laureles: Ginger Cocina

Ginger Cocina holds the coveted title of my favorite restaurant in Laureles, Medellin. Tucked away in this bustling neighborhood, it's a culinary haven waiting to be discovered.

What keeps me coming back time and time again? The answer lies in their exceptional dishes. From the savory cauliflower and setas baos to the mouthwatering tacos filled with cauliflower and eggplant, every bite is a symphony of flavors that leaves me craving more.

I wish I could give this restaurant 100 stars. It was the best vegetarian / vegan restaurant we ate at on our entire Colombia trip. If you are reading this - PLEASE GO! We went twice and Gineth and the staff there were so kind, amazing and helpful with everything. The tofu ramen was outrageous, crispy on the top with the most perfect broth. Charred sweetcorn and homemade kimchi. Outside of Japan it is the best ramen I’ve ever had. Even including Japan, it’s probably Top 3! Unsurprisingly the Mushroom ramen is also incredible. The bao were perfectly soft and the crispy fillings were fried to perfection. The tacos were probably the best thing we had and you’ve read the above, so just buy everything and miss your next meal. Oh and the Pineapple Kombucha and Chai Kombucha (now my favourite too!) were great. Thank you Gineth and ginger cocina, I will be recommending you to anyone and everyone who comes to Medellín for a long time ❤️🙏🌮

A friend knows I’m vegan, and invited me to lunch here. What a lovely experience. Located in the heart of Laureles, this husband and wife owned restaurant is quaint, yet vibrant. Offering a wholesome meal for vegetarians and vegans alike, the blending of flavors represented by the menu are unlike anything I’ve experienced in Medellín. I have a pretty picky diet, so I ordered the portobello tacos but requested them without the shells. It was superb! A beautiful cashew sauce and pico accompanied the fried shrooms. Washed it down with a delicious hot mangosteen tea. All for less than $8 USD. I will definitely be back to support this wonderful place.
