My friend found this place based on its amazing reviews, and boy were we in for a treat!
Let me start by saying that we are not vegetarian or vegan, but we love good food, which was abundant at Ginger Cocina. It’s clear that this menu and space were created with love. We started with two Cerveza Artesanal Medellín Red Ales (at the recommendation of the restaurant owner) and shared the Cauliflower Boa as an appetizer. Wow! The flavors of the Cauliflower Boa were bold and balanced, and the beer was a perfect pair. I then tried the Fungi Ramen and it was one of the best ramen broths I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve eaten ramen in Japan). My friend had The Bowl and scooped out every last bit of quinoa, savoring very bite. At the end of our meal, we tried the Hibiscus and Chai kombuchas for after dinner drinks and loved that the brand was local and the owner was very knowledgeable about the product. Great kombucha!
Food gets 10/10.
The restaurant was cozy, clean, open, and welcoming. It was simple, modern, and worked well to showcase the excellent food. The space was small and might not work for larger groups but it was perfect for parties of 2 - 4 people.
Ambiance gets 9/10.
So incredible food in a comfortable fresh space, what more could you want?
Well, on top of this, the restaurant is actually owned and operated by a dynamic couple. He is in the kitchen cooking and she is in the front taking care of all the customers’ needs. The two work so well together. It’s clear that this is a passion project that they are building together in Medellín. Hospitality is very important to me and this dynamic duo really hit a home run here.
Hospitality/Service gets 10/10.
Overall this is my favorite restaurant I’ve been to in my time in Medellín and if you’ve read this far, well, go give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. See you again very soon,...

I arrived here just before a heavy rainfall and scored a table on the patio. Ordered myself a bowl of the vegetable ramen (sublime, rich, hearty, suave, lots of flavors and consistencies) that was accompanied by an extra serving of the papas (well-spiced, incredible crunchy-yet-soft texture and great mayo to go along with it). I was able to eat this delicious meal while watching the city get soaked in rain. When the meal was over and the rain was still pouring, I took this as a sign to order dessert as well. The cookie crumble with fruits (depicted in the video) came in a little bowl and the advice from the waitress to go deep inside the bowl with the spoon to get a bit from all layers. Each spoonful came with loads of different textures, the taste was on a less sweet side (which I totally appreciate!) and very pleasant overall.
With all these fanfares about the food, let's not forget the service. The waitress was friendly and attentive. She was very keen on explaining things to me and made sure I was taken care off. I only directly interacted with the waitress, but the chef seemed pretty chill too. I think they both make this place whole.
If I had to complain about one thing, then it's that the tea is just brewed through little steeping bags. This miniscule complaint holds no weight against everything that was done right here tho, so, in my eyes this is truly a five star place.
I think I made a new core memory here....
