Matsuri - Plaza Real — Restaurant in Alajuela

I have been a customer of Matsuri for years, always regarding it as one of the best in its category. However, my order last night through Uber Eats from the Alajuela branch was quite disappointing.

I ordered the Matsuri 4 combination, Tori Katsu, and Matsuri Udon. Each dish, unfortunately, fell below the expected standards. The Matsuri 4 combination was overloaded with cream cheese and scant on salmon. The Tori Katsu was mostly rice with very little chicken and almost no vegetables. The Matsuri Udon, once a favorite, arrived with few noodles, no vegetables, little meat, and a hard-boiled egg in a flavorless broth.

This experience sharply contrasts with the positive ones I’ve previously had at Matsuri. I’d like to think this was an isolated incident, but it’s imperative to point out this drop in quality. When you eat sushi and you realize that without ginger or soy sauce, it does not taste the best, it means that by itself, it is not good sushi. We Thought this sushi was OK.
