What unexpectedly incredible food from kind people and local fresh ingredients! This unassuming little place looks on the outside like food would be done grab and go whatever. BUT inside, the staff is so kind, the place is so cute and also sparkling clean with great, warm ambiance.
But— the food!!! I’m a professional chef and not s breakfast food lover. That said, this place exceeded expectations every time we ate here, which were multiple times. If you crave something different than a traditional Costa Rican Casado breakfast, you’ll love this place. Their pastured-egg omelettes are perfectly made with the most delicious ingredients— the Caribbean one had this sauce that we just couldn’t get over. I mean— wow! And the fresh basil and incredible local cheese in mine on our 2nd time there was fantastic. It’s simple ingredients but cooked PERFECTLY— which is harder than it sounds. If you go on a Monday, their Huevos Rancheros were glorious! Made with tender tiny white beans, fresh diced tomatoes in a herbed tomato-y broth with homemade focaccia and perfectly cooked pastured eggs was such a joy to eat! And DO NOT sleep on their baked goods. This place is the real deal. Made with pure, real butter instead of oil or margarine like many bakeries, the goods here are real—like those your mom or grandma made. Their carrot cake was 3 layers stuffed with shredded carrots, tons of fresh spice, not to sweet, with toasted walnuts and a not-too-sweet gently cream cheesed frosting. Literally homemade, you can tell by the dense crumb. It was remarkable! The coconut 🥥 cake and Banana cream pie NEED to be in your to-order list too! (We ate here for breakfast then took desserts home for after dinner each day!)
This place is s real gem and the foodie locals know it! (This place is hugely popular with the local nursing staff who clearly adore it and know it’s the best in the neighborhood!)
Wish I could go back for the...

Approximately 7 years ago I had a really bad experiences with this coffee shop, and I swear that I was never ever going to buy anything else there.
Approximately a month ago, I was in the area, I was hungry, and I wanted something really tasty to eat, and I saw this corner, renovated, with a different decoration, somewhat a different light coming out of the shop; so I said "Oh! the people that were there left, good!, well let's see who are the new guys".
Maybe because it was XMas season, I really liked the decorations and everything happening in that moment. So I asked whether the man was the lady at the cashier simply hand me the menu and when I saw it I asked the second option, I was told, me that it was an onion soup, as simple as that, I asked her if they were new, and she said no, they had been there for 9 years or so.
Remembered what happened, but because Covid-19, change is in the horizon, and decided to give it a chance, and decided to taste it.
When I was eating it, I realized that it tasted like a onion soup that I tried in France, more than a decade ago, so I was enchanted and I decided to come back.
Since then I have had 2 really good impressions and 2 not that good, evoking the first time that I went to that place, that I was not happy; mainly because I truly believe that when you eat, you need to have the combination of good food and I really comfort place to enjoy it 💕
So the score is tied, will see how it ends, although my sweet tooth is winning in a sort of way, because they have really good cakes ☺️, but I had a strike on that area one of this days, so, let's see what's next, a ball or a strike,...
