After reading the previous reviews I can only assume that the normal chef was taking a day off.
I've been in Dubrovnik for a short while now and this is the first disappointing meal that I've had the misfortune of eating. The only reason it's been given 2 stars is because it was cheap / affordable and I don't appear to have food poisoning so far; it's the only restaurant I won't be returning to.
For starters, the bread was stale and tasteless, the fish (sardines and anchovies) were all pickled and tasted straight out a jar. The cheese was tasteless and our Dubrovnik plate's only redeeming feature was the ham.
The main was black tagliatelle with seafood and I was optimistic about this dish; it is the 4th time I've tried it in as many days and it's always been amazing! Yet it had 2 chunks of squid and a few bland mussels in it, the sauce was tasteless ink and there was a very noticible lack of cuttlefish in the black ink sauce as I've came to associate with this dish. The only saving grace was that it gave the bland tasteless bread (which my partner reminds me to point out was only €0.70) a use in mopping up my sauce.
The good factors were that getting a drink was fast, the food was cheap and my partner had a fan. Overall it feels very much undeserving of it's reviews that I find very suspicious for an establishment serving such tasteless food.
The review asks me to reccomend my favorite dish and I simply reccomend that you give them to the many local cats so that something may find enjoyment...
Read moreThe only reason we went here was we spotted the seafood blackboard sign on the Dubrovnik wall walk. After the walk we dined at the restaurant which is quite hidden. Upon arrival we walked upstairs to a beautiful court yard. Now I have read the other reviews and this place is unfortunately far from acceptable. We are from Australia so our seafood palates and expectations are quite high. We had the risotto which was decent even though the rice was still quite grainy. I was hungry so it didn't matter but it was definitely uncooked and dish came with one single premature mussel. My wife had the stuffed squid (stuffed with more squid) , for 160 kuna we got 3 tiny squid with terrible presentation. Dish came with the 3 squid , 4 mash potato rolls and a cheese spinach ball... Decorated with a peel of carrot and parsley. The squid was edible but tiny. This place is so beautiful but disappointing that the food doesn't reflect the expensive price and the location within old town. I would have thought all venues in touristy old town are of high calibre and good quality. One plus is that the Venue is relaxing and great for a few beers! Also word of warning this place...
