KONOBA Karuba — Restaurant in Grad Zadar

I do really not used to give that low rating but I have to... The place is a cozy family like one, and the staff is okay... however when we arrived, they started to fight that who should serve us. (Not for us, against us) The place was almost empty anyway.... that was the first time that i avoided to check ratings... choice well NOT made. The waitor was a nice guy anyway. Felt a bit stressed but I can understand it. The food was... well... it was a green shrimp noodles and some Cevapi for my friend.... mine had no taste... my friend refused to eat all the cevapi, and however it looked nice at first... it was toooo much oversalted, the meat was 60% grease and fat inside... the fries were the cheapest as it can be. We got bread as well but it was the cheapest toast it can be. We left around 40€ there with some tips, but after an hour I started to feeling wrong in my stomach.... I ended up (sorry for vulgar words) v#mitting at the side of the road, and it continued with a very painful, very uncomfortable night with more p#kes..... Now im waiting for it to leave my body at the "lower exit" as well and its not a pure joy ... my whole today was a "zombie mode" with only water drinking, so, while im giving 2 stars because of the okay hospitality and the nice looking place... everything else was a nightmare. Dear staff, if you read this... please improve a bit, so nobody else can suffer this. (Ive seen more people commenting about p#kes so I think im not alone with this experience.) Today, I had the most unpleasant experience ever at this restaurant. Despite having a card payment terminal, we were rudely denied the option to pay by card. This forced us to take a taxi back to our hotel to retrieve a card that could withdraw cash from an ATM. This entire ordeal took over an hour and cost us 30 euros for the taxi.

To make matters worse, the ATM recommended by the staff had the highest fee in the area, costing us an additional 20 euros in fees! When we finally returned to pay our 60-euro bill, the restaurant refused to give us our 6-euro change, even though they had sufficient cash in the register.

The staff was incredibly rude and dismissive throughout the whole process. This experience highlighted a complete lack of respect and consideration for customers. The level of unprofessionalism and the sheer inconvenience caused by this restaurant is unacceptable.

Without hesitation, I can say that this is the worst restaurant in town. If you value your time, money, and being treated with basic decency, avoid this place at all costs. They don't deserve...

We made a mistake not checking the rating and we payed the price. Looks like this was a nice place to visit years ago, but now something went wrong. Food was below average, “seafood pizza” was just a small margherita with few pieces of seafood for 15€, “fish & potatoes with swiss chard” was basically just fish for 23€ and “seasonal salad” was just cabbage with one slice of tomato and three slices of cucumber for 6,5€. If you want a glass of water, they will charge you 4€. Staff was constantly sitting down, smoking and commanding the youngest waiter to do the work so he was kinda stressed and overloaded. When you ask to pay they come to your table without any bill, tell you the ammount and that they accept cash only which we didnt have (there was no “cash only” sign at the entrance, in the menu or around the restaurant). We had additional cost with ATM withdrawal. Otherwise if you’re comming here just for a drink you’ll be fine, but there’s plenty of other better...
