Disappointing Experience Despite Good Reviews
We chose this restaurant based on the many 5/5 reviews, but unfortunately, our visit was far from that. It was a Sunday evening—not particularly busy—yet things started off on the wrong foot. We asked for drinks and were told they didn’t have Mai Tais, even though it’s still listed on the menu. The waiter even mentioned it hasn’t been available for a long time.
Soon after, we witnessed another waiter being quite rude to a woman and her child nearby, which really set a negative tone. When our food was brought out, the waiter placed the plates down with such force that one of the sauces spilled—no apology, nothing. His overall attitude was condescending, and when I said “thank you” (a bit stunned), he mocked me by repeating it back in a childish tone.
Later, our side of rice and potatoes was served after we had already finished our main course. And just as we were sitting with empty plates, waiting for the check, the waiter randomly brought out paper napkins and salt—far too late to be useful.
I've never encountered such passive-aggressive and unprofessional behavior in a restaurant. Regardless of personal issues, service staff should never take it out on paying customers. The food was okay (3/5), but the service? A solid -10000/5. Also, the outdoor seating area had blaring music, which didn’t help...
Read moreReview: Honestly, was disappointed. Not by the food itself. The food is fine. The Assado meet is not bad at all. The rest is an average ok. One can enjoy dining here. But the pricing is pretty outrageous. Not because it's expensive (don't care about that, each restaurant has the right to set any pricing, and the customer will decide). The main issue is the attempt to present the portions larger than they really are. Ordering a portion of assado for one or for two or for three persons? You will literally get the same salads amount. Which is actually the main reason for the high pricing. It is upsetting, especially since they have the Assado Bowl portion which they REFUSE to serve while dining in. Why, you ask? Because it is literally the same assado portion as on a plate, but without the "extra sallads" but costs 30% less. So bottom line, the food is ok. The pricing is not the problem. The portiones size are ridiculous comparing...
Read moreI ate lunch at Asado on my last day in Cyprus. The restaurant is conveniently located near Limassol Castle, the Carob Museum, a bus stop, and, of course, the sea.
The waiters were friendly, and the food was plentiful. If you have ever eaten in an authentic Israeli restaurant, you know that both are normal. The steak came with both white and yellow rice, a pair of pita rolls, and 11(!) dips/side dishes. (Each was in a small bowl, but still!) My waiters reheated my steak (I had been busy with the sides!), and even tried to give me a bottle of water for free for my vitamin supplement (I had ordered Sprite), but I insisted that I pay for it.
You can sit either in the restaurant, which includes a back room for larger groups, or outside. Wherever you choose, the waiters will check in on you, and do whatever they can to enhance your meal.
I highly recommend Asado. If I revisit Limassol, I will definitely eat...
