Bar Du Soleil — Restaurant in Limassol Municipality

AVOID! I would have really liked to like this place because the setting is really nice and the interior design is very appealing as well - but in the end the whole place is terrible due its staff. We tried it four times, and always have been disappointed. Everybody's got an attitude there and the service is ranging between super-slow and bad.

It already starts at the welcome desk where the lady acts like you're entering Studio 54 in NYC. If you don't insist, she'll always give you a bad table. One time we've been seated, another waiter came and said (or rather nearly yelled) "you can't keep on sitting here. You have to move" (even though we've been seated there). Another time we asked for the menu and have been ignored by the waiter.

Everybody was busy cleaning other tables or doing something, but clearly ignored us. After making very clear that we would like to order something, he finally came with the menu - but it took him another 10-15 minutes to come back and take our order. After we finished our drinks we sat there another 20 minutes with another glasses - which was plain stupid because we would have been in the mood to order a bottle of champagne and stay longer, but as everybody keeps ignoring you in this place they rather opted not to do business with customers. Happens if you come as a couple, happens if you come as a group, you'll always get no service.

I don't know what this management of this place does professionally, but definitely not managing. In the end I think they don't care because the place is always full due to its location and the tourists.

So if you want really bad service with an attitude, this place is for you. Otherwise there are much nicer places in the harbour area. So...

A Pleasant Experience with a Few Surprises

Sitting at Bar du Soleil in Limassol Marina, we decided to take a break from our walk for a coffee and chose this place.

I have mixed feelings, but overall, I’m very pleased with the experience. We ordered two cappuccinos, one as a decaf with oat milk. The waiter later informed us they were out of oat milk, so we switched to almond milk. The coffees arrived perfectly as ordered and were absolutely delicious. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it was probably the best coffee I’ve ever had. The only downside? It was also the smallest cappuccino I’ve ever seen, even smaller than a regular coffee.

Feeling a bit hungry, we decided to order a light snack and chose the Burrata Salad from the "Salads" section of the menu. A while later, the waiter returned to clarify that the burrata salad did not include chicken, which caught us off guard. We had never expected chicken in a burrata salad to begin with, as that’s not a typical ingredient.

When the food arrived, we were surprised yet again, it turned out to be a pizza with burrata on top! It had all the ingredients of a classic burrata salad, and it was absolutely delicious. We hadn’t read the full menu description, assuming it was a traditional burrata salad since we’ve had it many times elsewhere. Plus, it was listed under the salad category. A bit confusing, but in the end, the important thing is that it tasted amazing!

This is why I have mixed feelings about the place, fantastic service and great food, but a couple of unexpected moments along the way.

Would I come back? Absolutely! I think they have some interesting...

Extremely racist and unpolite. We were a group of six people who were denied entry. I am level 8 google map expert. I have never given a review of this type before but this restaurant deserves this. When we first went, the upfront lady said we needed to have a reservation in order to enter the place. Even though the place was half empty, she denied the entry. The next day we made the reservation, we went to The Steak House just opposite this bar, whose staff was very polite and professionally. We made the booking of this bar online, and then went there again. This time there was a person who said we can't enter, he then went to the same lady and said something in his language. It was understood by their reaction that he told her to make an excuse and make us leave. We told the lady that we had made a reservation. On this, she said the system is down therefore, we cannot get a table. This was clearly a racist policy of the bar, which reflected on their staff and you will find more of these types of reviews for this bar. Right after that, a group of women around 6 to 7, just entered the place without even asking for a table or showing any kind of reservation. They just saw an empty table and sat their. Would recommend all the people of colour or specific religion should avoid going at this...
