Columbia Plaza — Restaurant in Limassol Municipality

In the past we have always looked forward to the special occasions allowing us to justify the expense of this fine dining restaurant. The steaks are always of optimum quality and cooked to perfection.

However our experience last night was far from ideal. Following the recent renovation, we found ourselves inhaling cigar and cigarette smoke with every bite. This is because for some unknown reason they decided to have their illegal smoking area (due to EU law, no public spaces should allow smoking) separated from the main restaurant by two very large doors. This meant that every 30 seconds when a waiter or customer passed into the smoking area (they have to do so often as the kitchen is in the main area), our table was enveloped in the thick, acrid smell of cigarette and cigar smoke.

When we complained to the hostess at the door, she was far from apologetic, and even said to me that "we were the first people to ever complain about this". When we asked to move tables to somewhere further away from the smoking area, she told us that apart from the couch area (not ideal for a large group), the restaurant was fully booked. However throughout the evening there were many tables that were empty (see picture attached). Irregardless, even if she had accepted to move us, it wouldn't have helped, as the smell of smoke was evident the moment we entered the large restaurant from the entryway that is furthest away from the smoking area.

To add insult to injury, upon investigation we found that the owner of the building was actually eating a meal in the smoking room while enjoying a big fat cigar, and we were told that it was because of his wishes that they still kept a smoking area even after the extensive renovations from last year.

Despite this flagrant disregard for EU law and its associated health risks, we still enjoyed the superb steaks, and the excellent, attentive and friendly staff (not including the quite frankly rude hostess at the entrance). Staff of note were Radoslava, Stoyan and the head waiter whose name we did not catch.

Hello all, Recently visited this place, and I can say I was fairly disappointed. We where 3 people. So we ordered for the starter two tartar beefsteaks. It was good, not amazing but good. For the main course we had tomahawk stake to share, large greek salad some side sos and mashed potatoes. Let’s start with the salad, salad was made of largely cut tomatoes, that had absolutely no taste and where green on some spots, just unacceptable. For the restaurant this size to serve bad salad and charge for that a lot it is a disgrace. Steak is the real disappointment, we ordered medium cooked stake that was more rear to be fair. They brought a large piece that was not only tomahawk it had also a mixture of other parts of meat, meat was tasteless and chewy. The server BUTCHERED meat in front of us, no presentation, he looked like he was just chopping the meat with no particular cutting strategy. The mashed potatoes and sos where nice. We ordered also a dessert lava cake, it was really good. The bill 260 eur for 2 starters, one salad one steak, one side dish, one dessert and 4 drinks. Shame really. The staff was friendly. In addition to everything the owner told me to contact them back regarding my experience, and I did that but they never replied. Actions speak...

I came back to Columbia Plaza after a while. Everything is still perfect and the quality is nothing less than what I've experienced the years before. I ordered a nice Filet Steak. It was perfectly cooked - medium rare. Nailed it. I left it to the chef to put a pepper crust or not. It came with the crust which was an amazing choice. The taste and quality of the meat was just excellent as always. The red wine had a good temperature. The meat came with different kinds of bread and dips. The dark bread really did taste like home made. I fell in love. One of the dips was with red pepper and cumin. Very tasty. There was also a complementary small bite from the chef. Smoked salmon. Very tasty. I took the lava cake as dessert and it had a good cocoa note and therefore wasn't too sweet. Really tasty and good consistency. It tasted like it looks on the pictures. Just delicious!! So the prices are medium to upper level but it's worth every penny! The location is very nice, good Ambiente and is in a plaza together with la Boca, a confisery shop and an Asian restaurant. Also I think there's a club on top if I remember.
